It came! It came! It came!

    My permit came today!!!

you all know how exciting it is. It is one of those joys tempered with the understanding responsibility that comes with it. I am extremely happy to have been able to be through the process and the realization that it is something that is generally easier to keep than get.

I live in a CCW friendly area in CA. I have posted some things on here and while I was not thrilled with the process, the ends justify the means. I have mentioned the neighbor interviews that the LEO does and for those who read the post, YES, they did tell them why they were inquiring... That was quite upsetting but until I can move out of this forsaken state, I am at least able to be armed.

Thanks to all for all the help, advice and wealth of information to keep me occupied while I waited, and waited and waited.

Timeline: Picked up permit package in April. Got interview date June 30th. Had range class Aug 27th. Received permit Sept 29th.

While I do hate that place, I will. Maybe I wont hate it as much when I'm armed! Gotta get some supplies for the vacation we are heading out on today. Good timing on the permit eh?!

Damn, congrats on your permit. Condolences on your state of residence.

In AL you walk into the sheriffs dept., they run the NICDS, if you come back clean, you pay $20 and they print your permit.

Took me about 10-15 minutes from start to finish.

**Now granted our permits are only good for 1 year. 6 weeks before expiration you can request your renewal by email and pay another $20 online. They mail you your new permit... Provided that your new background check doesn't come back saying that you've raped a miniature horse

I hope he did the right thing and married that horse

My first walk wasn't Wal-Mart. I avoid that pit at all costs. I went to the local mall that doesn't have any signs posted. Then I went to NC, and carried in a couple of their malls.

Congratulations on getting your permit. Keep safe, keep alert, and carry always.

Now thats the way it should be done. Ky. is one of the gun friendliest states in the union but it still took me 2 months to get mine. I know they could streamline that some.

As i sit at the car wash right now I have my s+w 442 in an uncle mikes pocket holster in my front strongside pocket. Didn't want to put on my edc rig which will be an lc9 in a crossbreed supertuck at around 4 o'clock. LOVE having options!

    Jealous of that process RugerRon!!!

    Congratulations BigJon!

I too just recently received my CA CWW after jumping through the hoops for 3.5 months. When I first moved here in 2004 it was painful to give up my daily carry having lived in a shall-issue state previously. Fortunately, the efforts of the Calguns Foundation are paying off and we're starting to see CCW reform slowly coming about county by county.

Shoot 20$ ,,, the cost of a single 2 year permit in California will pay for 20 years of permits in your state. Dang their killing us here.

Exactly. While I was not concerned with any issues getting it (on my part, cant speak for the government) I was concerned about being out $250 with nothing to show for it!
