Update: OH Restaurant Carry Law/Maine Park Carry/Seeking Additional Info

Ohioís Restaurant Carry Law goes into effect today. Also the way a firearm is to be carried in a vehicle has changed. They removed most of the garbage in that law. Maine now allows carry in State Parks but Baxter State Park is still off limits as it is controlled by a non government agency. NY City interpretation of the law is that almost any folding pocketknife can be interpreted there as an illegal ďgravity knife. Be cautious. The Oregon Appeals Court ruled that State Colleges and Universities are preempted by state law when it comes to carrying firearms. This case will most likely go to the Oregon Supreme Court but this ruling has implications for other local government agencies that may have firearm bans. We will just have to wait until the courts straighten it all out which will take time. All the pages have been updated at Handgunlaw.us but having technical Problems listing the updates made on the Updates page and changing the Date of the last update to 9/30/11.

Wisconsinís Carry Law does not go into effect until 11/1/11. The Wisconsin page now carries the new law as it will be applied. Applications will not be available until 11/1/11 and by that time they should have out a list of states they will honor. Non Residents with a Permit/License WI honors will be able to carry in WI before Residents as they canít apply until 11/1 and it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get their permit/license.

North Carolinaís New Law does not go into effect until 12/1/11. It will allow carry in State Parks and remove Financial Institutions from places off limits. NC will also at that time honor all other states permit/Licenses.

I am also seeking assistance on obtaining Information and images of some of the different states Permit/Licenses
    To Carry and Registration Cards.

I have the front of all the states permits/Licenses but some of them I donít have the back of the Permit/License. Some may be blank. I would really appreciate a scan of the reverse of the following states Permit/Licenses to Carry or an email letting me know they are blank on the reverse. Oregon, Alabama, Colorado, Illinois FOID Card, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina and Virginia Resident.

The following I have nothing on. A scan of the front and reverse would be greatly appreciated. Hawaiiís Firearms Registration Card or one of the PIís Permit to Carry in Hawaii, Guam Registration Card and or Permit to Carry, Puerto Rico Permit/License or Registration Card and U.S. Virgin Islands Permit/License to Carry and/or their Registration Card.

If you redact info on the Permit/License if you would Please leave at least One Capitol Letter, One Lower Case Letter, and at least one number in each line so I know the font used and the font size. A description of each line would be greatly appreciated. Like the Permit/License # is in this format AA243566 or 342565A showing the number of letters and numbers. Same with the name/Address/etc in all caps or what is in all caps etc. Back ground images on the permit/license are the hardest things to rebuild. I completely rebuild the image using my name and change all items so that no one can gather any useful information from them.

You can send emails to admins@handgunlaw.us

    Eagleks & TN_Mike,

I really enjoy doing it. I have instructed many disciplines over the years in the Medical, Shooting and Industrial Firefighting/Rescue fields. I have found out if you want to really learn something teach it. So I do and keeping up Handgunlaw.us is just like laying out your Lesson Plans for instructing a class. Plus I know it is needed. I got started back in 1995 when info was really hard to come by. It is much easier today. Plus I have to say that I couldn't do what I get credit for without the help of countless people just like Eagleks and TN_Mike who give me a heads up on Changes/Omissions/Corrections/New Links/Broken Links. I see the big things but the little things are very difficult to see. The permit/license images are a case in point. I got a lot of them from people just like you. So thank you to all who have assisted me over the years. I couldn't do it without your help.

FWIW, comments for CC on Gamelands in NC ends on October 3rd. Then the NCWRC has to decide what they are going to do. I'll get you any info as I find out. I have not forgotten.

And as an aside, the city/county parks carry issue is getting interesting here. It's completely unrelated to state park carry, but they were in the same bill. Several cities are trying their best to get around it. I bet the courts end up having to sort this one out.
