15. Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.
I do know the laws, that's why I brought it up. I was trying to politely initiate some discussion as to why this particular situation was necessary at all. I don't have to be polite about it, I was just trying to be polite.
I'm in favor of gun control -- I think every citizen should have control of a gun.

Hey, I think it would be fun to have a police escort. I like meeting new people and I am not shy. I would make sure my escort at least had some entertaining company as he/she escorted me from place to place... either that or he would be super annoyed.. I guess that depends on whether or not my escort likes to chat or not...lol

How often do you hear about a shootout by CCW permit holders? Pretty much - NEVER!
Multiply the two and you get a value very, very close to zero.
And just why are "public officials" so much more deserving of protection than those that they supposedly serve?
I think the better question is why are those public officials so afraid, rather than why do they deserve protection. Everyone is accountable for their actions, including elected officials. Don't implement stupid laws, do stupid things, and trample people's rights. Maybe then the nut jobs won't be trying to shoot you.

Not having read the article, what happens when they run out of LEOs?
"Car 57, respond to City Hall to escort an armed citizen to the tax office!"
"Car 34, respond to City Hall to escort an armed citizen to the water office!"
"Car 92, respond to City Hall to escort an armed citizen to the restroom!"
"All units respond to City Hall, multiple armed citizens!"

Maybe a whole bunch of citizens who carry should arrange to all go there the same day, all in the same hour. Day after day after day. Maybe after the officials and the LEOs get tired of being inundated with lawfully carrying citizens who don't go all postal on their .. derrieres.. maybe they'll figure out it's not necessary.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

As long as I get to carry I don't care. Let them have 15 officers escort me for all I care... better chance I don't have to lift a finger to open doors... Heck, if I have to use the pot I may have someone to help me with the zipper...

Careful there, you might get charged with assault with a dead weapon.

Yep, another hard day at work! Had to escort three people with legal guns to the sewer department to pay their bill! Wonder if I have a shot at Officer of the year!

I don't thing the police escorts will last long, after awhile the crazy money that is made by the police at the "detail" rate of pay no doubt will knock some sense into the town goverment people. When it hits them in the wallet they will think twice about it. Spike

I seam to remember that the Texas capital building set up a second line for folks with CHL's. I also remember that the lobbyists were the first ones to go get them just to save time not having to wait in line.

In Texas we are allowed to carry in the capital building, In fact they have a special lane for the people with permits.
