Here in MN, our state law does not prohibit carry in banks. As any other business, they are free to post their premises within the law.

A funny, but dangerous, thing happened here in Rochester, MN. As far as I could tell, when concealed carry reform came in, only one bank in town was posted. Wouldn't you know an armed robber knocked it off immediately.

The next day, I was near that same bank and the posting signs were gone! Their management caught on, and stopped making their premises "criminal friendly" by disarming the good guys.

I work for the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. It is not illegal to carry a weapon in to a Texas bank unless they have a posted sign that is in accordance to state law. The letters on the sign have to be al least 1 inch and have a specific blurb, and it must be in english and spanish.

If it is not in the US Constitution then the Federal Government should not be doing it.

    Banks are private property.

Unless your state rules prohibit, the Federal law has nothing to say.

Also, may places that people THINK it is against Federal law to carry, it is NOT. Post Offices for example:

Nice to have them in lawyers' offices, too... keeps the sharks off.

It has to be posted in Arizona that no "weapons" allowed.

It is best to use the drive thru when doing your banking.

In MO unless the bank has posted there are no restrictions. Even if posted, the most they can do is ask you to leave if they discover you carrying. There are no legal repercussions unless you refuse to leave, which would be stupid on the individual's part.

I work in a bank and I will carry in the bank once I get the proper holster (tuck in type). One of my co workers thinks that you can't have even knives in a bank, much less a gun. Silly little sheeple. I would love to correct him, but I would rather not call attention to myself. Also not only is the bank not posted, there is no mention of the issue either way in the employee handbook.

In the event the bank is robbed I fully intend to lose my job. I know, well more know of, a teller who did everything that crook asked of her and still got shot. Of course some discretion must be practiced. I don't think that I can just shoot someone who has not yet produced a weapon (the note robbery), and I would be very leery of taking on multiple well armed suspects (ala Heat) with a pistol.

Yes, in Calif. and Oregon. Short list of restricted areas and banks are not one of them. These are private property with my money inside, increased risk immediately upon exit, etc. Unless it's a Fed property, courthouse, full-time drinking bar, secure area of an airport or other restricted area, I'm carrying.

Good point. Wife and I went into a bank the other day, first time in over 2 years.

You can do so much online or with ATMs now there's no reason.

Bank? People still "go to the bank"?

On the rare occasion I actually go inside, I always carry, since I always carry.

I know, with the type of account I have, my bank charges me extra to talk to a teller (free online banking though.)
