Folks tend to be a lot more practical down this way. Except maybe the retirees from out of the area who move down from NVA and points further north.
He would sure get my vote!
That is truly fantastic. I am glad someone in his position is doing something positive for the citizens in his community. You all are very fortunate to have him for Sheriff.

Some do! Check with your county sheriffs office, I believe your in Dekalb county? The Jefferson County Sheriffs office does offer citizen training classes on alternating Saturdays, or whenever they get enough people signed up to schedule a class. The classes are free of charge, and consist of in class room instruction, question and answer time, and range time at the Sheriff's deputies training facility.
Now having said that, I've been to the class, would I call it the be all and end all of classes, not hardly, but it's a great introduction for people... Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Training Center

Sounds like a great Sheriff you all have there.
Now, if other Sheriffs and LEO in OC States openly promote in large community events the State's OC and CC awareness to the public.
I live in Jefferson County and they do a class every month. It isn't required for a license mind you, but something that the local Sheriff does for citizens. It's a good class and you even get to put 50 rounds downrange! Our Sheriff is very pro-carry (and the revenue that comes with it).
EDIT: Just realized someone else answered with this same response. Cheers!
