I'm sure not taking this morons side...but what kind of a crime is "ethnic intimidation" ???????????????
Its a mamby pamby add on charge if they can show that the incident was racially motivated.

    From the article:

“This law is so absurd,” said Toby Hoover, director of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence. “Without this law, maybe some fists would have flied. Instead, he’s waving a gun around.”

IMO this statement is so absurd. Like a 'law' is going to stop someone from breaking the law? Hm....ask any criminal how that works?

You are 100% absolutely right. Reading the comments on the article's website makes it clear that there are many other idiots out there that think (though 'think' isn't the right word, as that involves thought) or rather believe like this dumb ass Toby Hoover. They really do equate CC with this guy getting drunk and taking a gun into a bar to start a fight.

One of the most frustrating problems about this is that you can't counter their ignorance with knowledge because they don't want to learn, they don't want to think, they don't want to understand. When the country's founding fathers wrote the laws regarding who could vote, they insured that such non-thinkers would not be allowed to have a say. And while they may have (wrongfully by today's view) lumped other groups into this category, there was a reason for this. If you ask me, these dimwits, who desire to remain ignorant, shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion either. If we have to exercise responsibility in our privilege to CC in public, they should have to exercise equal responsibility in their voting and voicing their opinions on the subject by becoming reasonably informed first.

Here is another wrench in the story; Dude went in the bar to drink. He left the gun in his car. He left the bar after a verbal altercation. He came back with the gun and threatened the victim. So in reality, this situation has absolutely nothing with the new law. Everything this guy did was illegal before the new law. The anti gun people should be happy, because the only thing that changed was the stiffer penalty the guy is facing as a result of the gun people pushing for it along with their ability to carry into a bar.

A tool like this clown, would have gone home to get a gun if he hadn't had one in the car.

Associating the new law with this incident is like blaming spoons for Rosie O'Donnell's eleventy-five chins.

That cow would get on all fours and eat ice cream like dog if you took away her spoon, and criminals are gonna take guns where ever their little pea-brains decide

Heck, if he lives close enough, he could have went home and retrieved the gun.

Why do people say the new bill increased the penalty? Here is the actual bill.

    Laws, Acts, and Legislation

Where is this supposed increased penalty?

I don't have time to go through it all and explain right now, but if you compare the old weapon under disability and trespass law with the new law penalty sections , you'll have your answer.

Oh, I am well aware of that, the timing is just crappy. But I'm sure the folks at the "news" papers were just sitting by their scanners waiting for the first moron to do something similar to this.

Interestingly enough, in the Toby Hoover quote above, it seems that Toby prefers someone gets beat "maybe some fists would have flied." Which is still a crime of course, and causes actual physical damage.

Maybe I need my gun in a bar to protect myself from these morons? Does that ever occur to people outside of this forum?

I had heard that it actually happened this way. Have you seen this written anywhere? I'd like to show it to someone to show how it has nothing to do with the law.
