Good judgment comes from experience...and a lot of experience comes from bad judgment. I went through a number of periods in my life when I would not have described myself as having my head screwed on straight. It is only by The Grace of God that I came through those times unscathed. Some of life's lessons and the wisdom of perspective had to be learned the hard way. For some, the consequences are much harder than others. I was fortunate.

I never appreciated many of the things my parents told me until I had kids. Suddenly, a lot of the things that I did when I was younger don't seem so "cool" now. I've actually apologized to my parents for a lot of the grief I caused them. Darwinism would indicate that you don't get old by being stupid. Most of my friends are a bit older than I am, and I affectionately declare myself "Old by association."

A lot of my buddies have been there and have the same t-shirt. Like my Dad told me once, river rocks don't start out smooth. They get worn down that way over time.

Right there with you. Carrying a firearm is a game and attitude changer.
