also my check was cashed and the lady on the phone said, "if your check has been cashed your application has been approved, and you move on to the background check process"
Wow I'm sorry, I would have flipped if after my wait that was what the DOJ sent me. I hope after christmas they fast track your app..

Any info out there on 380 cal for better half would be appreciated, not familiar with this round, do have walther p22, gp100 .357 but personally consider 22 too small and gp100 is an awful lot to carry, bought new sr9c for my carry, nice handling and smooth shooting gun in my opinion, accuracy on my part could use some work, but that will come with more practice.
keep checkin' the mail guys they ARE comin'
    Happy Holidays to All
380 are nice but fall short on stopping power.... Many will recommend going no lower than .38 or 9mm.

Ruger LC9 is a nice compact 9mm that you also can get with a laser from the factory.

Markush, If you have that permit, you might want to re-read that pamphlet that came with it. This kind of actitiivy (Lying/Concealment/Non-Disclosure) does not help the "Law Abideing" Concealed Carry Cause. The DOJ and Law Enforcement were initially our allies, this does nothing to promote that allience.

I have dropped deer with a 22 cal. Carried and shot every gun on the planet and think a .380 has Plenty of stopping power and is much more managable for MOST people. I have my trusty Colt Mustang Pocketlite (380) for 20 years and for summer there is nothing better. I carry a 45 cal Kimber in the Winter and a 40 cal Springfield XDM for work and can say if you can't kill someone with a 380 with a good hollow point carry load the target was too far away to be a danger or you need more range time!!

So was all that consternation worth it Jpeetz? What was the actual post marks, from the day of receipt, and the mail out date? After you do the complete audit, where did the actual numbers come out? And BTY congratulations! I helped a WW-II Veteran get his permit at 85 years old. He will NEVER carry but just wanted to be part of the club. He got his yesterday. The numbers are as follows.
    Mailed: 11/07/11
    Approved : 12/12/11
    Received : 12/22/11
    Permit # : 18,XXX ?
I'll never figure that one out, as it should have been 25,ish?
Again, Congradulations!!!! And to all of you, check, and double check your paperwork before you send it out, and don't play any games with these people!

As far as the tell the police if pulled over I totally agree. DL and CCL handed over windows down both hands on the wheel is ALWAYS the best option. They have enough to worry about already so why make there job harder. When I carried in PA for 10 years this got me out of quite a few tickets, its called respect ;)

While you might have a point the law and the DOJ pamphlet puts the burden on law enforcement to inquire. Permit holder are not required to notify. There would be no law violation [as a someone previously posted] to not informing. It would be up to each individual to decide whether to inform the officer. Guess it will depend on the situation. As stated informing the officer can turn a 2-3 minute stop into a much longer.

Anyway, congrats to all the received their permits and those that didn't hang tough you will get yours.

Armored, you could not have said it better! Again, Markush and Mr.Meanor! was it worth that, ............. less than truthfullness, or lack of stated clarity, to a Law Enforcement Officer trying to do his very dangerous job, dealing with the scum of society on a daily basis?

Both you Buckman60 and Southpaw226 do not understand the term HOR {Home of Record). That term would have cleared that miss-understanding.
