Right, it certainly depends on the State. Here in MN, if you are asked to leave and don't its a simple tresspass and something like a $25 fine.

Here, it called criminal trespass, and carries some heavier penalties.

My understanding of MN is that it would be misdemeanour Trespassing. Up to 90 days in jail and $1000 fine.

Well, thats interesting. The link I posted clearly indicated that a failure to depart was a misdemeanour. thats 90 days /$1000. Yours said something different, and it seems its from the same MN site. Either way, I wouldnt want to chance it. Of course, my link was just about tresspassing in general.

I would not likely be a guest at the home of someone I didn't trust to know. Don't ask don't tell is a good idea if you are worried about friends of friends of friends coming to steal 'em from your home. That's not the situation I'm faced with; not at that specific home and with that family.

And there are a few folks other than this family who know who probably shouldn't-- so, I'm not really strict about that; too big a mouth. In any case, you either ask permission or lock it up or don't bring it in the first place. That's my opinion. YMMV. You are welcome to your own opinion. That's what folks are offering up here. Opinions.

Upon further reading my link does not apply to private residences...only businesses. Either way, someone first has to ask you to leave.....if you are dumb enough to stay then you get what you deserve.

Carrying a firearm is a part of me, period! If someone don't like it, tough for them.

Now then, tell me where I said about violating any law?! Sorry but Indiana is a VERY different State than Ohio!

I never advocate nor break any laws when carrying!

I was talking about "if" someone/person has a problem with me being armed, which I never have, not just in their home or any place that I am legal to carry and we don't here have a law that either verbally or in signage carries weight.

I was only talking about "my" personal experience in "my" life with "my" friends and family.

As someone on this site states "always carry, never tell".

At this point I would stay the 3 or 4 nights in a hotel; just say I am sorry
for the confusion I have caused; go to the motel or go home.
I would not give up my gun.

I have been to some family activities and have member talking about
the crazy people who carry guns, and never said a word while having a 38
in my pocket the whole time. Now if I know they don't want guns in their
homes; I do not go there.
