"bullet trails going down" post #30
live & learn
I'm going to comment on the 'learn' as all else has been pretty well covered.
comes a time when an event in one's life may require that you have a sit down talk with yourself
this goes to thinking about what you see--
you had seen those marks on the barrel but did not see them for what they were.
What else have you not seen??
situational awareness requires of you that you see behind the images your eye's catch
and understand their implications. not that everything is a danger, but enough grief will come your way in life without
that you missed clues which may have softened some of it.
good luck to you

Lack of preparation on your part does not necessarily constitute an emergency on mine
When I was much younger, I was shooting at a hillside with my .22. With the second or third shot I heard this ZZZZIIIIIIIIING over my head.
The support for the paint can I was shooting at was a nice rock on the hill. The top of the rock was nice and flat, perfect for holding a paint can. There was a new track in the dirt that my last shot had dug, hit the perfectly rounded side of the rock and spit that .22 round right back at me.
I started putting my cans in the dirt after that.
Glad you were not hurt worse .... could have been really bad!
What the heck are those concrete cinder blocks doing there?????!!
Even if the bullet or fragments of it don't ricochet into you, if they hit that crap it'll 'splash' sharp pieces of material in unknown directions.
I'd get rid of them along with the barrel.

Oh good lord, people shoot steel and get hit by bullets coming back at them all the time. Sucks when you get hit but no ones died yet that I'm aware of.
