If Technology Had a Disabling Device As Effective as Guns: Would You Give Yours Up?
OK, not that different than a taser but one that did not need physical contact with the device or wire from it and the target: say something was developed, maybe an app for your Iphone (joke) but seriously, technology moves forward very rapidly. The Device disables for plenty of time, more than enough for LEOs to arrive. It's effective always. Easy to aim, can be used repeatedly in an instant if you somehow missed.
It's hypothetical now - but may not be down the line.
So, say we had that: would you give up your Defensive guns and Carry this Device instead?
Reason for the question: at heart, how many defend themselves with guns because they are attached to guns, as opposed to actually feeling the need to defend themselves with the most sure, current defensive-tool?
Curiosity....not accusing anyone.
-->For me, I wouldn't be comfortable giving my guns up for Defense yet can't really say why.

Phasers on stun? Sure.
But I want the option to ratchet up the power.
Or a Zat'nik'tel? Works for me.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.
I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

If I can get one of these devices, so can Mr. Badguy... so, hmmm... I hope it doesn't become available... I'm disabled having been hit by it... now BG just takes my stuff and saunters off... (and I think you meant Taser, not laser).

Nobody gave up their daggers when muskets came online.
Americans understood the right of self-preservation as permitting a citizen to repel force by force
when the intervention of society... may be too late to prevent an injury.

Give them up HE** NO, Would I carry one for defense HE** YES,
I am not out to murder in self-defense only to defend my family and myself.
However, I target shoot, reload, hunt, and enjoy precision shooting so I want to keep on keeping on.
You should start a poll I think it would be interesting.

Poll: good idea, though from the responses little doubt how it would end up. I don't know how to start a poll after a post is up. I'll try.
------- Just tried, don't see a way to do it.

Guns are lethal force delivery systems. How can something be equally effective without being lethal?

I want lethality. Sometimes it's the only sure thing.

Nope, not giving up the guns. Now, I might carry the "Device" as a back up.
