    No waiting period for those with CCW permits

    I am going to send a request to my state representative and ask that he sponser a bill here in Wisconsin that does away with the 48 hour "cooling off" period for those of us with CCW permits. We are going to get an instant background check anyway and it would eliminate the situation I am in of driving two hours round trip to pick up a gun two days after purchase.

    I was wondering how many states out there has the no waiting period if your a CCW holder. I would like to use this information as part of my request. Thanks for any responses in advance.

    I'd like to see that as well. I do believe there is a Federal law mixed into that 48 hour rule. DON'T quote me but isn't it part of the Brady Bill? If there is no Federal Law than go for it! You have your work cut out for yourself. The Anti-Gun groups are going to fight you tooth and nail.

    No waiting period in North Carolina but you must have a purchase permit if you don’t have a CCW.

    Good point, and as we both know, the Anti gun groups are at work rite now, quietly working at dismantling CCW piece by piece.

    Iowa- No waiting period if you have a Permity to Carry or Permit to Acquire.. When you receive either permit it becomes valid after 3 days and that is your wiating period for 5 years. I love walking into a store buying a handgun and walking out with it!

    No wait in Virginia. A permit also does away with the stupid 1 gun per month law here.

    There isn't a waiting period in Florida with a permit. If you're out of the city you can pick up long guns that day. If you're in the city then you have to wait 3 days.

    I can buy right off the shelf, no wait, with my Minnesota carry permit. But have to go to Minnesota of course.
    I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.

    So you can buy a handgun in a state of which you are not a resident? Because you have a non resident permit? Really... You sure?
