Last of the Mohicans
HI All
My name is Ted and I just join this great site. I have been a gun owner for many many years. However and with respect to Gun ownership, unfortunately I live in the "Last of the Mohican" states in the Union to accept conceal gun carry. Yes you guess it. I live in the state of Illinois. Plus, I am near Chicago, IL. which even makes my situation worst!!!. I was wondering what are your view points on the changing of the current laws for Illinois. I have heard many differant tails about when the laws will change for us gun owners who are on the side of concealed gun carry. I think most are just dreams. but dream do come true!! Please I would like to hear about your thoughts and view points reaging this matter. Thanks and I am glad to be here.

Personally; my thinking has been, as long as the political scene remains same in Chicago, they will dictate policy for the rest of the state. Unfortunate for most, but I would like to see a major change, as would the citizens of your state. Good Luck!!

I don't think Chicago's recent choice of mayor bodes well for it's people's 2nd amendment rights.

Well I think Custer stood a better chance at the Little Bighorn than you do of seeing conceal carry in your lifetime. Chicago has been a corrupt political machine for well over a hundred years. The powers to be there want their subjects unarmed and under their thumb. As long as Elvis, Richard Speck, John Gacy and a host of others continue to cast votes in Chicago elections it won't change either. Unfortunately, for the good people of Illinois, how Chicago goes, is how the state will go.
BTW....Welcome to the forum.

Your best chance of enjoying the benefits of CC is to move!

Build a fence around Chicago. One point of entry and exit, guarded by CCL holders (not to be confused with "Eric Holder, of course). The rest of Illinois might stand a chance. But Springfield isn't exactly the mecca of conservative and Constitutional thought.

You have a better chance of playing pick-up sticks with your buttcheeks, than being allowed to carry a firearm in that state fot at least 10 years{IMHO)

It appears that the Chicago political machine will never have any difficulty electing its anti-2A candidates. Since only political masters such as Chicago aldermen can get CC permits now, there's no incentive for the masters to change the law. So it appears to me that Illinois will have CC or OC for Joe Citizen only after some future court decision overturns the current prohibition in state law.

I was pleasantly shocked to see concealed carry come to Wisconsin where even the Republicans are liberals. There is always hope. Illinois has a big problem with Chicago, but then Wisconsin must contend with socialist Milwaukee and the People's Republic of Madistan. Hang in there.

Vote out the communist political rats in your state and you may have a chance. I don't see things getting better untill you get Pro 2A rights politicians in office. Also Welcome from Ohio.
