I assume you will be going around Illinois then. If not be advised, your MI permit IS NOT good there. Check Handgunlaw.us for the states you'll be in for specifics on their laws. Good luck on the trip and Congrats on the upcoming wedding.

I printed each states laws out before I drove from Iowa to Florida and would review each one when I was in the state. It would also be beneficial if you get pulled over you have some backing of your information if need be. Note: I wasn't pulled over once and didn't need anything I printed! I think the biggest thing you need to know is if you need to inform the officer, where the banned places are and do signs have the right of law.

    Congrats on the wedding!

When I took my trip in Sept of 2011 about a week before I called the Atty Gen of each state to make sure I was up to date on everything about carrying in that state. I put all the info like who by name I talked to, date and time and wrote it down in my travelers guide to fiream laws of the fifty states 2011 and found some counties were more strict and took the book with me.

Congrads on the upcoming wedding, and may life bring you and your bride much happiness!

Here in Nevada, with the exception of North Las Vegas, all that is required is should you be stopped by a LEO please give them both your drivers license and carry permit. State if the weapon is on your person or where it is located.

In North Las Vegas your weapon must be on your person or locked unloaded in the trunk/carring case in the back of the vehicle. Your person does include a briefcase or fanny pack. I think a "Man" purse is also included!

Please if interacting with local Las Vegas LEO, no furtive movements , hand in plain sight at all times as they tend to react negatively if you fail to follow directions. I've never had a problem, but I'm a innocent looking old fart!

Additionally any weapon should never print, so please make sure your's doesn't as that upsets the local LEOs and Casino Security when they get a MWAG call even though we're a open carry state. Tourists just don't understand.

Yeah avoid Illinois if you want to carry...Avoid Chicago if you even want a handgun in your car...save your breath if you get pulled over about federal laws... the sovereign country of Chicago thinks it's above federal law.

Your destination of Arizona welcomes you as a legal resident of the United States to carry your sidearm openly or concealed almost anywhere. Stay away from the few places that are posted, plus schools, courts and post offices, and you'll be fine.

Congrats on getting hitched, and welcome to the Valley of the Sun
