    How long for FL CCL?

I sent in my application for a non-resident Florida CCL yesterday, does anyone know about how long the process takes for approval?

My local police dept didn't charge for the fingerprinting - small town.

I received my Florida CCL non-resident in exactly 30 days from the day I mailed it. Wisconsin resident was 45 days and Utah non-resident was 60 days. Florida was the winner.

Mine took 89 days. If you finger print on the national data base (live-scan), and then return-receipt your ap (for confirmation of receipt), your ap goes to the top of the stack. I have this on good faith from my Dept of Ag buddy (the Fl weapons licensing agency....go figure). Law says they have 90 days to process.

Aside: another buddy fingerprinted at the sheriffs office. His ap got bounced for bad prints. His wife didn't know he applied and when the bounce came home from the Dept of Ag, she filed the unopened envelope in the tax drawer thinking it was an income statement. Finally, he found the ap, it was 60 days past the drop dead date for return, but he reapplied without a new fee. He live-scanned, returned the ap with a letter of explanation, and received his CWP 8 days later. Moral: they're really not out to screw you.

They a lot quicker today than they were in early 2009. I waited about 4 months.

Yeah, I think the post-Obama surge made all the agencies tighten up and prepare for the influx.

I got the Florida CCW today. . . . it took 27 days from mail-in to receipt. Not too bad I think. Now I'm pretty well covered for anywhere we may want to travel.

I have a question about the training requirement for a FL non resident. I read something that being in the military exempts someone for having to take the class as long as I can show I can shoot. I was told that I can send in a copy of my orders along with a copy of my recent pistol quals and I should be good. Am I correct in that or no? Also if I get a non resident permit can I change it to a resident if I were to PCS to Florida?
