Florida Permit

Got my Florida permit in the mail yesterday, 11 days after I applied. I applied in person at the Regional Office of the Division of Licensing (under the Dept. of Agriculture). I had to make an appointment to do it in person, which was a 4 week wait. It was worth it to me to go there and complete the online stuff there, get my fingerprints done there electronically, and they took my picture there too. Cost me $117 but it is good for 7 years. It also gives me a total of 36 states. Not a bad experience at all.

You could move to MI and get 39 states, but hey Im lucky......Grats on the 36.......

I actually knocked out the pic and fingerprints at the sheriffs office got my notary done at the bank and went online to run my prints and mailed it all in got it 3 weeks later. It's faster to mail it in then wait for the appointment IMO

I got an appointment within 2 days. Got lucky. Received my permit 7 days later. :)

Got my FL permit processed in 3 weeks. Took one week for a trip from Tallahassee to Pinellas county which I can do in 3 hours. Good old USPS.

The wait for the appointment was worth it to me. One morning off of work and a one-stop get it all done deal. Since I had my Virginia CHP already and they reciprocate I was still able to carry during that time (I asked about that when I called and made the appointment just to make sure).

Mostly carrying my XD40sc. 442 gets the nod a bit too. Also working with my G36 at the range and carrying it occasionally.

The two words being synonymous, I fail to see the significance of the differentiation. Both terms indicate a document conferring an authorization with established rights and limits. It's like saying I didn't buy my "license" as it were, I purchased it. What's the difference? In any event, whatever one wishes to refer to it as, I now have mine for this particular state. The one I have for Virginia (where I spent the last 14 years) is described by that particular state as a "Concealed Handgun Permit." Perhaps 14 years of referring to that one as a permit is a habit that was much more ingrained that the "License" I've had in this one for 2 days.

Congrats on the permit and the move...isn't FL great?
