How Long Has Your State Had CCW?

I have been reading a number of threads regarding both LEO perceptions and non-CCW citizen perceptions of CCW.

Here in the state of Colorado, we have had CCW on the books since 2003. How long has your state had CCW laws on the books?

Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of CCW in Colorado. By legal standards, that makes CCW law quite "young." My point here is that, there obviously needs to be a lot more case law in order to bring our society into a state of being of "normalcy" or a more widespread understanding of the 2nd Amendment as it relates to CCW.

The most consistently disturbing point that is raised in these forums is when LEO's go "off" on a law abiding CCW citizen for no apparent reason. It appears that law enforcement agencies may be lax in educating their officers with respect to these issues. If I am in error here, I will accept your input or correction.

Could you also quote how many are licensed if you have that info?

Massachusetts has a two (2) tier system. One for carrying [LTC], and one for possession [Class B].
There are about 280,000 records of both tiers. However, it is estimated that only 80% of the 280,000
records are for carrying concealed weapons. This would give an approximate number of CCW's at:

Ohio since 2004, only really useful since 2008 when it was revised for use in cars, and getting almost convenient in 2011 when we could finally carry near alcohol.

I believe VA became a shall issue state in 1988 and was a may issue state prior to that. Can't find anything specific prior to 1988 though.

Oklahoma, where I got my first permit began issuing permits in 1995.

Florida has the most permits, PA second most if I read the list right.

No way to know what percentage of the permit holders actually carry full time. But of the 8 people I know that have permits, only two of us carry all the time.

No statistics in Vermont cuz we've had the ability all along without need for a permit of any kind.
