    unlawful use of telephone

    i have a friend who has a cwp in sc, his daughter put out a warrant on him for unlawful use of telephone, she is wanting to drop the charges now, they went to court and found out the cop is trying to push the charges and she told him she wants them dropped, this was a bench trial, so now after him finding that out he had to request a jury trial in front of the judge, he is getting a lawyer now hes wondering if convicted of this will he lose his cwp, any help would be great

    What the heck is unlawful use of telephone? Did he say something over the phone or use it to hit someone over the head? I guess it depends on if it is considered a domestic violence charge.

    I doubt he would lose his permit.I dont know the law there but I would guess that its probably a civil infraction, not much different than a speeding ticket or parking in a handicap zone.

    Even if by some quirk he was found guilty, he'd probably pay a fine and be done with it.

    he said some profanity in a text message i forgot to put that in there he knows the fine is not more than 500.00

    Sounds like unlawful use of telephone could be something more like threats via the airways. Charges like that usually don't stick.

    What if it's a minor? might change things... and why would he get a lawyer for a 500 fine lawyer has to cost more than that..

    He shouldn't lose his cwp, at the most he'll probably be stripped of his cellular priviliges and fined with roaming charges. Damn phone cops..
