    Anyone in the Pittsburgh area?........

Question......... I live in VA with a Va Permit. I have to drive to Pittsburgh on a business trip and although WV and PA recipricate with VA, is there anything in particular I should be aware of reguarding local rules/laws/regs, etc?

I will be there about a week and want to carry while there but i don't want to ruffle any feathers either

    Thanks
    Tim

I'm from the Pittsburgh area. There is nothing special to be aware of. The Pittsburgh Police don't like open carry (from what I have recently heard), but it is perfectly legal. The same rules that apply to the rest of the state apply to Pittsburgh (there is statewide gun law preemption from what I understand). Here is the link to the handgunlaw.us page on PA.

I CC in downtown Pittsburgh and have never had an issue. Enjoy your visit, and stay away from the Homewood area if you can help it, otherwise you may have to use your CCW.

Also, totally unrelated to guns, check out the shops at the strip district if you get a chance.

Thanks for the info Badey. I know I won't be in any schools, and hopefully not in any courthouses so I should be good. Also thanks for the tip on Homewood.

Do not attempt to carry anything into KennyWood Amusement Park - No pocket knives - No OC Spray - No Firearms - No Nothing - Everybody gets wanded before entering the park.

Carry your original License to Carry - Not a XEROX copy. You must have your LTC with you on your person when you are carrying concealed.

I only carry concealed so if you carry otherwise than I can't help you.

You MAY legally go into restaurants that serve alcohol.

You MAY legally go into bars.

You MAY legally enjoy an alcoholic beverage in restaurants while carrying. I'm just making a statement of fact & not passing judgment on that.

You MAY legally enter stores and malls.

You are NOT required to notify if stopped in your vehicle for a traffic violation. Personally I would but, it's not the law.

I always carry concealed when I go into my bank without any problems.

You may get in and out of your vehicle without having to do dumb gun antics - just leave your carry firearm concealed on your person.

You MAY NOT enter any Magistrate or court rooms or Government buildings.

You MAY NOT enter any schools with any weapons.

I believe there is one hospital in Shadyside where NO FIREARMS sign is posted and possibly a bar or two in the Strip.

Aside from those places I have never seen a No Firearms sign.

I do not live in Pittsburgh now but, I do visit my Mom there these days.

Thanks QK. It's a work trip so I won't be spending any time in the amusements parks PA sounds like a pretty firearm friendly commonwealth. I'll be CC, don't even open carry at home in VA unless in the woods or at the range.

It's pretty much a breeze to carry in PA. I put my firearm on in the morning and it just stays on all day and right up until beddie-boo time.

Remember also if you'll be carrying a knife...no specific blade length restrictions but, no switchblades "Out The Front" or automatic knives - no double edged knives or daggers - no Knuck knives - no ASP batons or blackjacks -

Oh...The Casinos on the North Shore are Firearm - I think. Not sure 'cause I've never been in one.

IIRC Primanti's was the restaurant that made a big deal about not welcoming gun owners when the annual NRA meeting was in town. Had the employees in anti-gun shirts and all. Try DeLucas around the corner. Or that little Polish deli...
