Macys at the Maine mall in south portland Maine

Me and the wife were going to go to Macys at the Maine Mall while we were in South Portland a day ago, but when we got to the front door, their was a sign on the door "NO HandGuns" in this store. We have been to this macys before and have never seen a sign. So we turned around and went some where else. Just wanted to let you all know about the store posting.

Is open carry legal in Main???....... I'd be sorely tempted to go get one of my "Black Rifles" and sling it over my shoulder and no back; it ain't a "HandGun".

That's a shame... I love Maine, and visit when I can, and have never seen a posted building (but I stay out of Portland).

I travel to Maine every year and go to the Maine Mall in Portland a lot. That is for sure a new sign because it was not there last year. Gives me another reason not to go to Macy's. This will be the first no carry sign I've seen in Maine. Maine is a very friendly carry state. I wonder if it's a legally posted sign and do they have one posted on every entrance...even from inside the mall?

Macy's has it home base in New York City, that explains everything.

The Maine Mall may as well be called the Northern Massachusetts Mall. I think every large mall is posted so I could see why they did it as well, but at the same time it's Maine we're talking about. Signs do have the law on their side, though. Not sure if there is a specific sign requirement other than being plainly visible...I know in my area you'll find more guns welcome signs than guns banned, that's if you can find a banned sign.

Does the rest of the mall entrances have the signs and if not does Macy's have the sign posted inside the mall entrance to their store? The reason I ask, if it's not on EVERY entrance then I don't believe it would stand. That's the way it is in SC....of course I know all states are different but it seems it would have to be on every entrance to the store and/or the mall.

    Unfortunately yes, according to Handgunlaw.us.

The mall entrances have a sign with a bunch of stuff not allowed. Guns are on the list somewhere. Not the best sign but from what I recall the other stores aren't posted. (Sears for example)

OP...it's important that you contact the store manager or upper management at their head quarters, to let them know that you've taken your business somewhere else, because of the sign posted at this store. Hopefully you will get a response, as to why the store was posted. Let them know that this incident is being discussed in this forum with other 2A lovers. Most of us have wife's and they shop there. These companies are sensitive to adverse publicity. Keep us posted.

Brad: I say Muffy, we just received another letter from one of those crazy gun nuts.

Muffy: I wish they would just stop bothering us. They are so uncivilized.

Brad: To think, they believe that owing guns makes them safe.

Muffy: Don't they know that owning guns just make their pathetic lives even more dangerous.

Brad: They are so uneducated that they don't even realize that the police will protect them

Muffy: Well we better be going. The bodyguards have brought the limo around. I don't want to be late for tonight's party.
