    How to Renew in Florida

    I'm having a senior moment.
I've had my Florida CC permit for 4 years now and I'm wondering how to renew next year?
Will I get something in the mail automatically like with my driver's license or registration?
I seem to remember filling something out on a website that is supposed to remind you.

    How to renew?
FL Department of Ag will send you a notice of the need to renew...they will tell you exactly what you have to do.
If I recall, it came about 6 mos. ahead of the due date.
As of 3 - 4 years ago, the renewal switched from 5 to 7 years.

Yes, I just had my 5 year permit renewed for 7. I got the form and paperwork in the mail exactly 6 months before it expired. Don't forget to change your address with them on line if you move.

    Ditto to what others said.

Mine was good for 5 yrs, expires Jun '12.
In late Dec, I rcv'd my packet.
Mailed it in Jan. Had renewal 17 days later.
    Good now 'til '19!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Renew Online? If not, how do I renew my license?

Unfortunately, online renewal is not yet available.

Approximately 150 days prior to the expiration date of your license, the Division will send you the renewal form with complete instructions on how to renew your license. To help assure the Division of Licensing has sufficient time to process your renewal application prior to the expiration date of your current license, complete and return your renewal form immediately to:

    FOR CHAPTER 493 LICENSE RENEWALS:
    Division of Licensing
    Post Office Box 9100
    Tallahassee, Florida 32315-9100

FOR CONCEALED WEAPON OR FIREARM LICENSE RENEWALS:
    Division of Licensing
    Post Office Box 3030
    Tallahassee, Florida 32315-3030

Concealed Weapon or Firearm licenses can be renewed at one of the Division of Licensing’s eight regional offices. You simply have to call for an appointment by contacting the office that is most convenient for you. Bring your unsigned renewal form with you. We will perform the notary service and take your picture at no additional charge. If, for some reason, you are unable to keep your appointment, please call the Regional Office at least 24 hours prior to the time you are scheduled to appear if at all possible so that your appointment time can be assigned to another applicant.

I had a CCW in Fl, but have since moved to Ky. and now Va.. My Fl. permit expired and I think I remember reading that if it lapsed, they would not issue another. Is this true? I may move back there someday, so I wonder. Hopefully this is in line with the OP's post

This is what they stated about expired CCW.

My license has expired. Can I renew it?

Individual and Agency Licensees Regulated under FS493

A license issued to an individual or agency regulated by Chapter 493, Florida Statutes, can be renewed if it has not been expired for more than three months. A late fee equal to the amount of the license fee is required in addition to the renewal license fee. If the license has been expired for longer than three months, the former licensee must re-apply for a new license.

    Concealed Weapon Licensees

A Concealed Weapon license can be renewed if it has not been expired more than six months. A late fee of $15 is required in addition to the renewal license fee. If the license has been expired for longer than six months, the former licensee must re-apply for a new license.

If you need another renewal notice sent to you, please contact our Public Inquiry Section via e-mail or phone (850) 245-5691.

If your license has been expired longer than the allowable time, you must reapply.
