    Laminated poster size permit. haha

In VA we have a DL size permit but they're too cheap to laminate it for us. I complain about the $50 price and for that much it should be laminated for us but I know some states charge much more??

I only used the sticky laminate for mine but I have many copies and keep extras in my vehicle to be sure I don't get busted if my wallet gets stolen or lost.

SC is laminated and the same size as the DL. Our DL's have a red band while the CWP has a black band, both have the same DMV photo.

And Yes we must have the permit and also notify LEO if asked for ID.

Being a VT resident there's no need but I carry my Non Resident NH license alongside my DL but they're both the same size.

Imagine NOT having it when you were stopped. I can only guess that confiscation for the time being would be just the start. jump through a bunch of hoops before you got it back.

Not here in AK. I don't carry any paperwork with me, just my handgun choice for the day stuffed with ammo.

I can't imagine any state not requiring the permit be carried when one is carrying a gun. The question is, how harsh are they in the case where one mistakenly leaves the permit at home (none of us would purposely leave it behind, would we?)

    SD provides an out clause:
However, if within twenty-four hours of being charged with a violation of this section, the person produces a permit to carry a concealed pistol which was valid at the time of the alleged offense in the office of the officer making the demand, the charge shall be dismissed.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

I'm not sure if this a legitimate reply or not but it took me less than 3 minutes to find this...

It looks like section 724.5 is what you need.

This is the size of the "average" Iowa permit:

While state law allows for issuing agencies to issue laminated cards, there is no standard beyond what is shown above.

    Wow that's a large permit!
Looks like it could be easily forged, not like you'd be able to get away with it... just sayin

You have to carry it with you in Kentucky. There is a $25.00 fine if you don't.

    Ditto for Virginia.

FWIIW, HB26 was passed and signed into law. It will become effective 1 July 2012. It removes the current criminal penalty and replaces it with a $25 civil penalty. The court may waive this penalty if the person presents a valid concealed handgun permit and government-issued photo identification to the court. Thus putting such failure on par with not having your DL with you, if stopped while driving.

That's one of a number of changes we got through this year.

BTW, the antis pitched a fit. It really buged them that we stopped ever bill we opposed and got some good bills passed over their opposition.

Paper, what a bummer. Paper licenses don't last long around my house.

This wasn't covered by your instructor in class?
