I agree with you (that a larger mag in a smaller gun isn't an issue).
I heard the argument differently, however. 'It' was said by 'them' that it was the way that a persons hand gripped the magazine while they were firing that slightly altered the angle of the magazine. This then caused a feed problem.
Anywho, I agree with the conclusion, and that is a good video.

Apparently they inserted the mag somewhere else that it did not belong.

Paul how dare you dispute this.
Obviously this was all staged and you banging the seated mag was faked.
Great video and visual effects if they don't believe it now they never will.

I carry a G26 and have used all lengths of 9mm mags during classes and matches without this happening.
I did over-insert a G.I. 1911 mag into an Officer's ACP once.

I had never heard such silliness before, but I'd also never heard it about a 1911 either.
