poll is down....my guess is they did not like the 50% yes.

liberals don't handle facts well--especially when they go against what "they think is right" for us.

    thanks all for the help

Do you have a link to the poll? It is no longer on the main page.
Edit: never mind: you noticed at the same time I did.

sunzu i think along the same lines as you on that; but if we ignore it, they win by default

i don't want to play their game but once they start it, i must object or ignore:
in this case they were voted into submission rather than winning by default.

plus is they can not run the evening news with statistics as they hoped to.

so, in its own way---we not so much won anything as we prevented them from.

surely the character's name you have choosen can appreciate this

    1) ...mean anything?

Yup! It means the antis are searching for numbers / rigging numbers to quote later to advance their agenda.

When the pro-RKBA folk weigh in they fail in that deception.

When they fail, we win. So we should play.

    2) Represent any sort of reality?

Nope!! See first sentence at #1

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.

I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

Totaly disagree. For your same reasoning. Everybody knows these polls are rigged. You admit it. Folks on this site have told people how they can vote numerous of times to sway the numbers. So it is a game. Who actually has that much spare time to vote multiple times. If you want to play the game that is fine. But a politician in NH is not going to give a hoot on a poll in Conn. Sorry to disillusion you. Do you know what polls they care about? The ones where they actually poll people that are registered to vote and likely voters.
Now, they do care about major polls done by major networks, pollsters, and yes oraganizations like the Brady Bunch and of course the NRA. These CNN polls they do and the local newspapers don't mean squat to me. And call me stupid but if it is a local poll about a local issue, it is none of my business to vote in a poll to sway anybody. That is what the democratic process is for. And anyway, I highly doubt the polls mean much. They are just fun for folks to do during lunch time.

    suntzu,

Not sure what we are disagreeing on.

I never said the politicos gave a hoot about them.

I did said that these media "unscientific polls" do not represented reality. So, I see no reason to be disillusioned.

However, I do believe that the media searches for numbers / rigs numbers to quote later in their own writing in order to advance their agenda by influencing their viewers / readers. The media are working on / working up their viewers / readers with the intent of influencing the vote.

IMHO, it is one of the media's tools, just like the extensive coverage of every CHP's ND or every crime that is totally unrelated to the CHP but can be linked to a CHP holder.

As always YMMV. However, IMHO a landslide of anti-RKBA "unscientific polls" results, over time, will influence the vote -- not predict the likely outcome but rather influence the likely vote.

Here is a little follow up on this poll being taken down. Shortly after it was removed, I contacted them with the following message:
    From: broken.at.hush.com
    Sent: Tuesday, April 24, 2012 12:56 PM
    To: WFSBWEB Group
    Subject: Poll Taken Down?

I am writing in regards to the poll that was placed on your website today, regarding Stand Your Ground Laws. Unfortunately, I went to voice my opinion, and yes, I do believe that stand your ground laws are a good thing and noticed that the poll was no longer available. One can't help but reach the conclusion that you weren't getting results you wanted (this forum link asking people to go out and vote may have something to do with it: (link to this thread)
I received the following, rather testy reply:
From: Steven Yablonski <Steven.Yablonski@wfsb.com> Add contact
    To: "notme@hush.com" <notme@hush.com>

No the poll wasn't placed on the site today.

If you looked at the website yesterday, you would have seen the poll was there yesterday morning and was taken down today.

As a matter of fact, the results were more than 50% IN FAVOR of the laws.

    Here are the results:

Do you favor a "Stand Your Ground" law here in Connecticut?
    Yes: 1042 50.09%
    No: 505 24.7%
Depends on how the law is written: 499 24.4%

So before you send emails like this, please make sure your facts are correct.

    Have a good one
