Modern .380 loadings routinely penetrate 9 -11 inches or more. Also, five .380 rounds to the face is going to stop even the fattest Sumo wrestler.

Is it the best round for the job? That's debatable and I still won't carry one as my primary weapon. I do however routinely carry an LCP as a second back-up gun.

380 was used by the Dutch police and military in the 1930s-1960s as well as other European countries. Of course that was before they switched exclusively to 9mm.

That is very impressive. Still not my caliber of choice, but impressive nonetheless.

    GET IN MY BELLY.......

Really, the gun is a last resort. At melee distances you are better off fighting.

9mm parabellum was invented in 1902.

I'd carry a .380 too, if I also carried a sub-machine gun like the Europeans do.

Well that just made this thread irrelevant!

Great video, thanks for posting! I'm seriously impressed, now I'm considering switching from golden sabers to gold dots after seeing that...

You're walking home after work. It's dark. A man of this size suprises you, jumps you from an alley, and pulls a knife. You have a few seconds to react.
You pull your .380 and his fat stops them. You die.
HA HA HA!! Are you serious? Really?

More seriously - .380 FMJ gets 16-17 inches in gel. Placement is going to be the issue, not the caliber.
There we are, just the second response to the thread and BAM! We get someone who actually knows what he's talking about. Well done.

because every one of them has failed to stop at one time or another.
And again, someone who actually does understand ballistics, unlike the OP.

Blunt and to the point, just like I like it. Well said. And completely accurate.

Bark'n, I too have an LCP, my most recent purchase actually. Unlike you, I do carry it as a primary at times. This is because it is the only gun I own that is designed for pocket carry and when I am working, that is what I must do. I travel over a fairly large area and I'm not able to carry a full size gun with me because of the nature of my job and my required dress. I've tested my LCP. I am confident in it. It will do what it can do as long as I do my part with shot placement, and that can be said with and and all calibers.

It is for sure better than having nothing but a cell phone!

BS, I shoot two to the body and two to the head. That is also why I load my LCP with FMJ and HP rounds.

When I went through my minimal training for ccw I was thankful it was being taught by retired policeman.I don't care what you are carrying if someone has a knife
is in your safety zone 20 foot circle with you in the middle you will get stabbed before you can unholster your pistol and fire it. Here we go again caliber is not an issue,
If it's real hot I'll carry a 380 with a 22 derringer as a back up!If your not confident with firearm you are carrying then get something else !
