Paranoia are the people who are somewhat or not aware that there are threats but are too scared or insecure about themselves to prepare for such threats. Instead they go through life thinking that if they ignore or believe that there are not dangers in life that cannot effect them. These are the same people who are quick to blame someone else for their own shortcomings.

What he said. Odds of them being in a wreck that needs a seatbelt are slim. They must be paranoid for even having them in their vehicle.

You shouldn't have told them in the first place. Carry Always Never Tell- unless it's a restricted zone or some other circumstance like you've been drinking.

My close friends who do know that I own guns (not everyone knows I carry) will often joke about "we're coming to your house when the shtf." They don't like it so much when I tell them that I have nothing to share with them (any extra guns laying around my house will be in family members' hands, not friends). And that if they do show up that it is more likely that I'll be defending myself from them if necessary.

I don't leg anyone make decisions for me, especially when it comes to me and my families safety. I try not to care what other people think. If I do I usually end up disliking them...

I believe that a second trial has been finished of two vile individuals who attacked a doctor and his family in their up scale home. The doctor lost his wife and two daughters to a horrible death and was beaten close to death. I bet he wouldn't call you "paranoid".

    Absolutely correct.
I carry so I don't have to depend on a five to ten (or more) minute response time for LE to arrive. I refuse to be a victim -- either because some perp thinks he can take my life or my property, or because of a major earthquake or other natural disaster, which could put me and my family in jeopardy. I have sufficient food, weaponry and ammo, and other provisions to take care of most situations that are not only possible, but predictable. It's called personal responsibility and I accept that which I can prepare for...

It is pointless to explain your reasoning behind your decision to be prepared, they will never understand, they have bee preprogramed to never fight back. Always speak softly and carry a big "boom" stick.

O2R1 you should be laughing at them. I live in a good neighborhood to, or so I thought until the house on the corner was shot at 5 times last spring. A lot of people these days are spring loaded to stupid and you made the right decision by preparing to defend yourself. Good on you.

I love the video of the "Boom Stick". I had to go and see it again. It always makes me laugh. For anyone who has not seen it...go here and check it out. Like a suppository, only a bit stronger × Comme un suppositoire, mais juste un peu plus fort | the dissident frogman

In my way of thinking, living in a good neighborhood makes you more attractive to crimes such as theft and home invasion than less attractive. After all what person in their right mind would break into a home that has nothing of value to steal. If you're looking for money would you rob a Bank or a Koolaid stand?

Your coworkers and friends who believe you are paranoid must not read the crime reports you can find in
every newspaper and they must not watch their local news on television. You are not being paranoid, you are
just being prudent, preparing for what may happen with the growing more evil and violent society we live in
today. They are blind and oblivious to what is going on and before they see the light it might take a personal
experience with the criminal elements that are running rampant across America today.
