    Still too much cost.

Here in SD it's just $10. No print fee, no photo cost.

Why should the permit have to cost $70 or $140 or $200 or whatever other places charge? In addition to paying to be printed, photod and trained?

Tn is $115 the first time to cover fingerprinting, etc. Four years later it's $50 and you can renew by mail.

FYI, your CCW is your Concealed Carry Weapon, it's what you carry. Your CHL is your Concealed Handgun License, or it might be your CCP, your Concealed Carry Permit.

    FYI, In California it is
    "California Department of Justice
    STANDARD APPLICATION
    for
LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON (CCW)
    Authority
California Penal Code (PC) sections 12050 through 12054 provide that a sheriff of a county or the chief or other head of a
municipal police department of any city or city and county may issue a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm
capable of being concealed upon the person (CCW license). PC"

Pretty much every state has a different name/abbreviation for the permit we shouldn't need to have.
LCCP here in SD - License to Carry Concealed Pistol

To keep the commoners and other rif raf from being able to afford to exercise their right to bear arms.

In MN it's a PCP (permit to carry a pistol). We're still trying to figure out how a revolver works.

Right, it's a license to carry a concealed weapon, or a concealed carry weapon license (CCWL). Your CCW is still your concealed carry weapon, any other licenses or permits allow you to carry that weapon.

TN is a "shall issue" state and it is now handled by the state's Department of Safety, not locally. It's called a HCP for Handgun Carry Permit. Carry either way as the law didn't specify the "how". Yes, it's not cheap as you pay $75 to $125 for a day-long class/range time from a state certified instructor and then $115 to the state but we no longer have to depend on the attitudes of local officials to get the permit. I see it as a small price to pay, but hope it will get lowered some day, particularly the renewal fee.
