using a non resident permit for your home state

I was reading on another thread about somebody using a non resident permit from another state for there home state permit. Is this legal? How would this be looked upon if you were stopped by a law enforcement officer with a drivers liscense from your home state and a out of state ccw permit?

most states prohibit a resident from using a non-res CCW.
    But some do.
    Check your local laws.

Depends entirely on your resident state's laws.

MO recognizes _any_ CCW permit, resident, or non-res. Since it took nearly a year after CCW was legal in MO before some of the sheriffs started issuing permits, many MO residents carried on non-res (FL mainly) permits. In order to deny the anti-ccw sheriffs their money, many still do carry on non-res permits.
Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

Do you mean to carry in AZ? I hope they don't limit AZ residents to not be able to get an out of state for another state.

I carry in Missouri on a PA permit. Permits in Mo are issued per county. When Missouris law went in to effect my county was dragging their feet in issuing permits, so an out of state permit was the only way for residents of my county to carry at that time.

If I read Fla law correctly, the state doesn't honor other states non-resident permits, either. (It does have reciprocity with many other state's resident permits, however.)

For an Az resident to carry concealed in Az they must have an Az CCW permit. Open carry is totally legal.

I carry in LA on a FLA permit. Louisiana honors FLA permit and does not have a residency requirement for reciprocity. Some states do, they will not honor another states permit unless you live in that state.
Louisiana law says nothing to force its residents to purchase a Louisiana permit over a recognized out of state permit.

If it isn't prohibited then it is permitted.

Many in north Louisiana use the FL permit b/c the LA permit was not recognized by Arkansas. I think LA has reciprocity with them now.

Out of all the states that has reciprocity with FLA there are only 2-3 that I can not carry in because the require you to live in the state that your license is from. IIRC NH is one of them, but for $20 they will give you an out of state permit as long as you have a permit from somewhere else.

There is a link to the TX statutes concerning concealed carry on this page. There may be others not included in the file. I would consult a local attorney for more research.
