A very ordinary man turned hero - as they all were.

Here is a gallery of "lost" D-day photos, found and published by the Denver Post back in 2009

These men and this generation...truly saved the world!
We owe them a debt that can never be paid.

These are some great links guys. Thanks for posting them. This era reminds me of my dad who was a marine stationed up on a hill a few miles from Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and continued to serve in the Pacific. God bless that generation.

    Auschwitz:

What's scary is the kids today. They know no history. If anyone should be looking at these pictures, it's them.

I teach in a university. A few years ago I went to Poland for a project accompanied by 2 students assistants. One a grad student, very mature, the other a senior undergraduate, 21 yrs old. I went to Auschwitz when I was there. I can't say anything about that. Auschwitz is beyond speaking.

But a few weeks before leaving for Poland, the undergraduate senior asked me what I planned on doing in Poland other than the project. I told her a few things I planned and last mentioned I wanted to go Auschwitz.

    This was her reply:

    "What's Auschwitz?"
