    Question Dick's Sporting Goods???

I have received information that in order to buy ammo at a Dicks one had to present a driver's license and then electronically declare that one is a US citizen.

I, personally, haven't bought ammo there for a while. Price!

However, I was wondering if anyone else has run into this practice?

My local Dick's quit selling firearms a while back. Turned the whole section into camping and outdoor items. I never bought ammo there though for the reason you mentioned, so I'm not sure.

Honestly...this is the first I have heard of this. I know in Tennessee that some Dick's don't carry guns or ammo anymore, and that they have a specified store to buy them at, but I have not seen the practice before.

Our local Dick's has a no-carry sign on it. I won't go in there.

I've got two reasons not to support Dicks:

The Dicks Closest to me has greatly reduced the amt. of hunting/firearms/ammo selection, so I choose not to go there.

They still seem to cater to the bowhunting crowd the most, followed by turkey, but their very limited supply of Defense ammo is a joke.
Looks more like an MC sporting goods store. Preppie/kyak/cycling/jogging/golf/BB/.....traditional player sports.

The few I've been to have some long guns and some overpriced ammo, have not attempted to buy any ammo there. Could this be a state thing?

I have only been to two Dick’s stores and as others have said limited supply of long guns and grossly overpriced ammo.

You have to be 21 to buy beer in NC. You have to be 21 to buy handgun ammo, 18 for rifle or shotgun. Those are federal laws. OK, so now we know the law. Exactly how is the store clerk supposed to uphold it if you look 20 and want to buy beer or ammo? Haven't any of you ever been "carded" before? If you think you look way too old to be carded for ammo that's something you have to take up with the clerk or the store manager. Or your Congressman. But whining about laws and their enforcement never got anything accomplished.

I very rarely buy ammo, so I don't know much about it. I do buy alot of components.

Our local Dicks stores stopped carrying handguns and handgun ammo some time ago. Their prices also seem generally higher than elsewhere. I avoid shopping there. I prefer to patronize stores that are positively shooter-friendly.

Haven't been in a Dick's in several years. No idea what their policy is now.

Price is usually higher than other places,,,, buy about a month ago I did buy some
ammo from them,,,, I believe they have their own card & driver's license,,,,, I do not
think was part of the requirement to get the card.
