Names of CWP Attorneys
I am in the process of trying to develop a list of attorneys throughout the country who are experienced and knowledgable in CWP issues. I am doing this because I believe that it is very important that each person who lawfully carries a concealed weapon have access to an attorney in the event that the worst happens and we are required to use deadly force. When the police arrive and/or we make a 911 call, it is critical that we know what to say and what not to say, and be able to immediately contact a capable attorney to advise us, if necessary.
I have cleared this project with Bumper, and he has already set up a spot in the blue navigation bar for the list.
As a start, I am requesting that all members of this Forum who know of an attorney in their area who would qualify send me the attorneys name and contact information, telephone number preferably, e-mail or web page. You can send it to me as a post on this thread, as a private message, or as an e-mail, whichever you prefer. The only use of the information you send will be to add it to the list of CWP attorneys on this Forum. You will probably want to make certain that the attorney consents to your providing their name before you send it to me
Once the initial list is posted, I will periodically update it as I obtain additional names of attorneys.
Thanks for your assistance.

I have not had any luck contacting this guy, as he is out of town this week but...
Scott J Kappas Esq. Attorney
He is the author of a book concerning CCW and is on the board of a couple of statewide ccw groups. (The gun law guide)
I cannot locate any website concerning his legal practice, but here is some info about him as the author of the book.
I am expecting a return phone call from him in the next day or so. He is two or three hours from here, but I hope to get a referral if nothing else.
BTW, thanks Ron, for taking the initiative to compile this list. I have looked for a good local 2A/ccw lawyer for a while, and only recently located Mr. Kappas. It had never occurred to me that others would encounter the same trouble.

Amen to that. I received my copy in the mail yesterday and scanned through it. I'm glad I got it, make that very glad, as right off the bat it corrected several significant misconceptions I had about FL CC law. (misconceptions held by a good many CWP instructors, too)

Ever more reason to have an attorney immediately available, even in a gun friendly state like Florida.

This is a great idea. I posted the same thoughts on another forum but no one thought much of it. Anxiously awaiting CWP lawyer in SC.

Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

What a great Idea Thanks for that name in Ohio Linda. I made the wife and me a laminated card with all his info on it. I hope I never need to whip it out, but you just never know and I feel better prepared now.
