Illegal Concealed Carry in various states. What is the charge?

State to state does anyone have a list that could be relayed, or know of a computer site that specifies whether carrying a concealed loaded firearm without papers (or valid ones), is a misdemeanor or a felony? Obviously four states would be excluded totally since there is Constitutional Carry in those, except in Wyoming partially, where it’s only valid for state residents unfortunately.

I was recently reading about an incident in Oklahoma in 1995 where the charge was a misdemeanor (Also that was the same year I think when OK began “Shall Issue” CC permitting.). Whereas it seems to be commonly assumed that it’s usually a felony, and I’m sure it is in California where I used to live, and I assume myself that it normally is in the more draconian, anti-gun, North Eastern states. Also I was just thinking more about the New York City Statue of Liberty incident with the guy from Indiana.

P.S. I understand that it could be looked up state to state, but that would take a long time to do. So no one has to tell me about "Handgunlaw.US".

I would just say "dont" unless you know for a fact that it is a constitutional cc state and legal for YOU. not only is it going to get you in trouble, it could get you killed.

It's only illegal if you get caught.

    felony in texas

there might be something like a plea bargin that reduced it but I think that most if not all states (that don't have open carry w/o a permit) see carrying w/o a permit as a big no-no

Additionally since I've lived in California, I know what gun law tyranny is all about, like anyone else from there who believes in having handguns around. Same as the other terrible states with either prohibitons or out of hand regulation on it. So I learned how to cope with it in my own fashion. So I don't need advice on doing something or not doing something. I just want to know about what I asked. That's all.

Just for fun, this might be a good thread to make the list. I think it will be interesting to see how varied the states are in their treatment of the "crime" of carrying concealed with a mother may I from the state.

    SD - Class 1 misdemeanor: one year imprisonment in a county jail or two thousand dollars fine, or both;

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

In South Carolina, with some exceptions, it is a misdemeanor that will result in a fine of not more than $1,000.00 and/or imprisonment for up to 1 year upon conviction. The gun will be confiscated and will not be returned. Section 16-23-20 and Section 16-23-50 SC State Gun Laws.

I DO NOT CONDONE ANY ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
Here in TN it is as follows

39-17-1307. Unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon.

    (a) (1) A
person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, a
knife with a blade length exceeding four inches (4''), or a
    club.

    (2) (A) The first violation of subdivision (a)(1) is a Class C
misdemeanor, and, in addition to possible imprisonment as provided by law, may
be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars
    ($500).

    (B) A second or subsequent violation of subdivision (a)(1)
    is a Class B misdemeanor.

    (C) A violation of subdivision (a)(1) is
a Class A misdemeanor if the person's carrying of a handgun occurred at a place
open to the public where one (1) or more persons were present.

    (b) (1) A
person commits an offense who possesses a firearm, as defined in 39-11-106,
    and:

    (A) Has been convicted of a felony involving the use or
attempted use of force, violence or a deadly weapon; or

    (B) Has
been convicted of a felony drug offense.

    (2) An offense under
    subdivision (b)(1) is a Class E felony.

    (c) (1) A person commits an
offense who possesses a handgun and has been convicted of a
    felony.

    (2) An offense under subdivision (c)(1) is a Class E
    felony.

In many states getting arrested for any "gun related crime" including carrying without a permit automatically disqualifies you from getting a concealed license in that state.

And, since we do not discuss illegal activity's in this forum, as the rules state, this thread is closed.
