Still waiting for a couple of key cases (law suits against CA Sheriffs - Santa Clara being the big one) to go through.
Hopefully she has a good cause statement that will work.

It's most definitely a might-issue privilege, in California. It's the prerogative of the county sheriff to determine if your need is good enough. As if protection of life isn't good enough.You have to make an appointment to be denied your rights?
Nicely, in many counties, it's essentially shall-issue, in practice. Unknown if Sacramento is like that, this time around (with the current sheriff).
OP: Good luck with the interview. Hopefully your county sheriff is sane and rational, not a political yes-man with regard to the right to defend your lives.
