    Whatever the impetus, congratulations to your Mom for taking responsibility for her own safety. It'll open a whole host of questions (and it should). Hopefully, it'll get her thinking about overall security and a "layered" approach to it all, of which the firearm and being armed is only one part.

    I thought your mom had passed as well. Perhaps a better thread title would have been "Mom has seen the light!".

    In any case, congrats to you and her!
