I wouldn't worry about it. Modern ammo will work fine. Just make sure you upkeep the gun.
But if you're worried about it, get a Glock and some maritime cups.

Guns are made of steel and mostly inert polymers. In other words, they are pretty tough. If one gets soaked, just clean it at the earliest opportunity. And if you get mugged in a rainstorm, you can pull the trigger with confidence.
If you are really worried about water in parts that cannot be readily disassembled beyond a basic stripping, just use some compressed inert gas (same stuff you use to clean your keyboard) and some oil/CLP. Put some of the lube over the ingress point and spray away.
Every jacket I own has a chest pocket that zips on the side of the pocket. That's where the firearm goes.
I wouldn't worry about it. Like everyone else is telling you just clean it/field strip it when you get home.
The only time it's raining and I'm not carrying is when I'm naked in the shower

The same way I always do. How wet can the gun get. If it is raining that hard I am going to stay put until it lets up.

I carry my Glock the same as I always do. Rain will not hurt it, just clean it afterwords.

Dude, just how wet are you getting in the rain anyway??? Spend some time outside during a Florida summer with your CCW IWB and you'll find out quick that it isn't a big deal. Wipe em down and go.

Guns are like sex and air...its no big deal until YOU can't get any.
Well, if you have a Carbon Steel firearm and you get stuck in a torrential downpour or you take a dunk in a river or lake & you're worried about water sitting in the internals and rusting your firearm up inside you can always just leave the firearm assembled and flood it with a water displacing lubricant like WD40....work the action....flood it again w/ WD40 and then shake it out. That will get all of the residual water out of the action.
Spray Contact Cleaner will work also.

Same as when its not raining, maybe carry an umbrella. Sometimes when it really gets crazy even wear a slicker. Its not like your going swimming.
Rain? What is rain? I think it used to do that around here. Hasn't happened for a while. If it would make it rain I would put all my guns in the backyard on the dirt. No grass, it died .
