Reciprocity
I am curious to know if many states do not offer out of state permits, but reciprocate with another. If I have a non-resident permit in that state, does reciprocity apply to me? For example a lot of southern states reciprocate with Florida, but don't issue non-resident permits. If I get a non-resident Florida license does that invoke the reciprocity in these states?

Here in North Carolina we do not issue non-resident permits but we do honor all out of state permits.

Ok that makes sence, but I wanted to be sure. Would feel like an idiot if I got arrested while traveling for carrying illegally, while I thought otherwise.

The NRA-ILA website has a reciprocity map, allows you to click on your state on the map and it highlights the states that will honor your carry permit.
ETA: I did just remember that there are states that will not honor your carry permit if it is not from your home state.
My suggestion would be check the laws of where you are going to be traveling every time you travel outside your state. Most states won't accept ignorance of the law as an excuse.

This Site has dynamic maps that allow you to select your resident and non-resident permits:

The above mentioned www.handgunlaw.us has more raw data and is a good way to verify the map data.
