    Red face Made

I'm at my p/t job and was leafing through a copy of the new 2007 S.W.A.T. Calendar that is hot off the press (working for S.W.A.T. is my other gig). A couple of my co-workers, interested in the contents, were standing over my shoulder when I flipped past an ad with an ankle holster in it.

Well, my co-worker joked and asked if I had one...while tapping my ankle with his foot. I didn't have time to move, and even if I did, the evasive maneuver would've been a "yes" answer, anyway. He knew right away it wasn't part of my shoe he just tapped, and his eyes bulged out of his head. He wasn't afraid (thank goodness some people can actually consider things in context) but surprised, and his reaction told the other I was packing.

They joked about it, but then the conversation turned to guns and carry permits. The guy who tapped me is one of the nicest, most reasonable people in the office, and ended up mentioning an interest in guns and getting a carry permit.

I asked that they not blab to the whole office (although my boss knows I carry), and they agreed it was wise. (A co-worker had gotten fired a few months ago, and he was one big dude who had a heated incident with the boss right before he was fired.) From what I know about them, I do believe both are telling me the truth that they won't blab. After they joked around some more, both said they actually felt more comfortable knowing I was carrying.

They found ankle buddy, but they don't know about the USPc at my waist.

I think that one Betty was pure Murphy There will always I think be just those very few instances where nothing we do can prevent the discovery.

    Probably and seemingly no biggie.
but they don't know about the USPc at my waist.

If they find that one, I hope they don't start "Bump the Betty" games to find out what else and where I'm packing.

Bump the Betty, that is funny

I don't wear my ankle holster in the normal position so they wouldn't find mine :) .

sounds like it turned out OK (so far).

I was "made" recently, by my doctor, and it turned out badly.
I felt lousy about it - and I'll be a lot more careful in the future.
There is way too much risk for me at work - so I give no hint as to my "2a" leanings.
At times in the distant past I mentioned some things about my recreational shotgunning - and noticed an uneasy silence.
I also avoid any political conversations. I've had unpleasant experiences there too.
I lean right and I've discovered that people that are left of me are very closed-minded and judgemental.
    Best to avoid if possible.

Talking Glad Everything Worked Out OK

Yep, not much you could have done to avoid that incident.
    Things do happen sometimes.

I'm pretty tired right now...anybody else want to honor Betty's CombatCarry Moderator request and spank her?

    Any volunteers?

I guess being a guy has it's advantage here... at least I don't know of anyone who would reach down and "tap" my SmartCarry!

With all the pictures of Betty with guns around the internet, mags, etc. How can they not think she was carrying, if they work with her?

I was made this week also. Someone bumped into my back and "found" my 2 1911 mags I carry SOB...the just looked at me and said "good...I feel better now"

Might have helped that I used the picture of my CCW training target with the center shot out of it in a presentation a while back :-)

    Chris,

Nope, no way on being the one to spank Betty:

    1. She has spiders, I don't like spiders.

    2. She has guns, and I'm sure she knows how to use them.

    3. She's married. After she sics the spiders on me, shoots me, then her hubby would finish me off.

I'll just hide in the corner thank you very much
