Based on the recent news stories it seems like that guy should have been locked-up at least twice over the past year (once for brandishing - supposedly while the Brown Deer PD was outside, and once for firing a shot between his wife and daughter). New laws don't help if existing ones are not properly and diligently enforced!

I wonder if anyone told him its already illegal to own a firearm if you have been convicted of domestic violence or have a restraining order?

He put forth no solutions that would have stopped the crimes. More pablum from out of touch politicians looking for votes.

Sensible, common-sense and loopholes are all trigger words which let us know who has been whispering in a legislator's ear.

From what I've read, even the proponents of these ill thought out "solutions" admit, it would not have stopped the shooting. But it's election time, so lets throw out some feel good talk for votes.

Its amazing how these politicians will try to use these type of crimes to restrict law abiding folks their rights. These type of crimes are more of a reason for the people to arm themselves...The bad guys will always get their hand on the guns, cant they understand this?

Can't agree with you more about the part in bold.

These new laws would only apply to people who follow the law... The shooter in Brookfield was not someone who would follow the law... I can't put it any simpler.

When will governments(legislators) stop making gun laws due to fear of what bad people do with guns. Most of, if not all, the "reasonable" gun laws in America impose some type of restriction on law abiding citizens and none on the bad guys.

Don't legislators understand the meaning of "....shall not be infringed." Infringed is a crystal clear word with no grey area to wiggle around.

    in·fringe
    [in-frinj] verb, in·fringed, in·fring·ing.
    verb (used with object)
    1. to commit a breach or infraction of; violate or transgress: to infringe a copyright; to infringe a rule.

I will bet 10-1 that even tho she knew he was abusive and had threatened her numerous times, that other than getting a restraining order she did nothing else to aid in her safety...like get a gun and learn to use it,put electric locks on the entry door to the business and a note to ring the buzzer for access etc.
