Carry gun choice based on risk???

We are fully aware that anything can happen any time. You never know when you may need to protect yourself. With that in mind.

Do any of you guys choose which gun (caliber) to carry based on deemed risk? For instance, while I am at work in a nursing home I may elect to carry my P-3AT. If I know I'm going to be in a bad part of town, I usually carry my G30.

I have confidence in any of my firearms in any situation as you said anything at anytime.

I carry my P3AT in my pocket while at work (I'm a doctor). I carry my PPK/S after hours as primary and P3AT as my bug. When I'm out riding my bicycle or hiking I carry my P22 as primary and my P3AT as bug. Occasionally I will carry my P99 (40) but I'm still self conscious about carrying a fullsize pistol.

The great thing about the P3AT is that you don't notice carrying it. It is my everywhere gun but it takes second place when not at work or when my clothing permits a more substantial gun.

I feel comfortable with shot placement with any of my pistols, so I am not really concerned about caliber. While I know anything can happen anywhere I do my best to avoid places and situations which would breed trouble.

I always carry the same weapon. Now if I "had" to go to the bad side of town I'd bring more reloads and a CCW friend if possible.

I carry the same guns everwhere all the time.It doesn't matter where you go, the character of a place can change in a moment.
People feel safe at work but people die at work from violance all the time. There is nowhere safe enough for me to downgrade my armament. If I was allowed I would carry a refle everywhere I went.

I practice, compete and carry the same gun all the time...I made that decision when I started carrying...I know that pistol well and how to handle it.

A few months back, when the illegals were rallying and making all kinds of threats ... My AR-15 went to work with me that day, along with my Glock 17 and plenty of loaded mags for both.

Thankfully the promised "major disruptions" fizzled, but you never know.

When I get my CCW, I will carry a G19. Personally I think I will stay away from the bad part of town unless "OnlyGlock is with me.

Unless wardrobe absolutely, positively precludes it, a 1911 (usually my Ultra CDP II) goes with me, regardless of destination. I want the weapon with which I have the most confidence on hand. A top-knotch holster and gunbelt make all the difference in comfort and concealability. I usually carry a P3AT as a BUG. If I thought I needed more than that, I'd grab an AR or the Mossberg.

Sig P226, OWB, all day every day (except at work, in a casino, where I can't carry legally).

I will add an additional gun with more mags if necessary. Two of my three carry guns use the same mags and always have one available to each hand.

Sometimes I carry all three of them with some reloads!

Not so much threat based as it is situational considerations. I'll almost always have my 1911 Mil-Spec on but there are times I need something smaller for concealment reasons: Funerals, weddings, etc. where there may be a lot of hugging and closeness - then I usually opt for my j-frame in a pocket or ankle holster. I have my eye on an EG Makarov that'll most likely take over as a "dress gun" after the Holiday shopping is taken care of.
