Wa State CCP map
I saw this on the news and thought I would share. Living here for quite some time, the data is just weird as some of it seems spot on with my perceptions and other data is off from what I thought. This state has had massive growth with CCP's over the last few years. Note that you can click on the map to see the data in each area. The data for Seattle is just classic as it seems like city folks are just so dependant on the police and government for everything. This state is truly divided as everywhere elese other then Seattle, Tacoma is very much conservititve. I love WA....

Re: Wa State CCP map
Seattle police agreed to.
“We always encourage people to not take the law into their own hands. We always encourage them to call police if they think they see something they believe is illegal or is in fact illegal or suspicious,” said Assistant Chief Jim Pugel.
Pugel said lawfully owned guns are too often misused against loved ones, in suicides or accidentally fired by children or their visiting friends.
Aww, the nice policeman will protect me, why do I need a gun?
As a newly minted Seattle resident, I don't show up on the map. I'm a little annoyed that the map doesn't show up on their mobile site, I'm gonna have to look at the map tonight.

Seattle--the land of Granolas infused with CA liberals. I always considered everything east of the Cascades as the real WA.

That's a cool map - thanks for sharing.
I recently waited 48 days for my CPL renewal in Thurston County - I called and complained to the Sheriff's Department (despite my wife's pleas to not make a big deal of it) and reminded them that state law says "shall issue within 30 days" - they said the Sheriff is aware of the problem, and complain to the County Commissioner if I wanted to....also some stuff about it being an election year, and the fall is when everyone applies, etc....
I guess when the Sheriff's Department can't process all the applications in time to be in compliance with the requirements for the state law - that is a good kind of problem to be having.
.....and WA is a very weird mix of people!

Yes indeed WA is a weird mix of people. It's basically two liberal cities and everyone else. Sometimes it amazes me how good our gun rights are in this state. Heck we just passed law last year to legally own and shoot suppressors. I am thinking about organizing a local DC meet and greet some time if I can get enough interest.

I would definitly be interested in a meet and greet. I've seen quite a few WA people on here.

Uh, there are 'liberals' here that support the 2A and cc.
There are even 'liberals' in the rural areas, I know I am one and know many others.
WA St supports gun ownership and CC in its state constitution.

Re: Wa State CCP map
I lived all over the state from central to eastern to western and back again. I loved the whole state and would move back again. Never had a problem with ccw.

May I ask how you support 2A? Seriously think about that question as it's one we should all be asking ourselves as Americans. Would that be where it counts (with a vote or donations to the NRA)?
By the way yes even liberals are invited to the WA DC get together! haha

Well, I wrote about this in my on-line Examiner column here and here, the latter mentioning how many people are now licensed to carry in WA state.
The sheriff's departments, particularly in western WA seem to be overwhelmed with applications and renewals. It's rather busy with the election coming up, and yes, there does appear to be a correlation.
Halsne did a decent job on this, and I happen to know that he worked on it for quite some time. That map analysis is a real piece of work, and the most astonishing drivel that was posted in response had to do with the supposition that many people who live in the Seattle area work somewhere else and vice versa, as if that had anything to do with the basic premise of the report.
I presume a fair number of posters here are familiar with my book 'Washington State Gun Rights and Responsibilities' and what I do for a living. IMHO, Halsne's story did a service, and I sure can't say that about many news stories. As a card-carrying member of the working press, you don't see many stories like this and frankly, that map explains a great deal about the politics in WA state.
One can't blame it all on an influx of Californians. Sure, Washington has been "Californicated," but we've also greeted people from:
New Yawk
New Joisey
Taxachusetts
and some places in between that have grown generations of people who think guns are the province of police and perps, and that honest citizens should need licenses and registration cards.
I talk to people from all over the place who seem stunned we don't need an 'FOID" card to own a gun, or permission from the government to buy a gun.
Washington is a great place, but too many people have moved here and decided they wanted to change it to be just like where they came from. I have a supply of road maps for them so their return trip is not encumbered by getting lost.
