    I got outed today!

So there I was in the gun store looking to order some PX4 10 round mags. The clerk, the same guy who sold me the gun, was talking to a couple about a good choice for a carry gun. He then motions at me and says: "Well, look at Warren here, he carries and you can't tell where it is."

The woman says: "Well, I can see it right there. It is a huge bulge."

So I pull up my shirt and show them that the bulge is actually my.......wait for it....... fanny pack. I make no effort to show them where my gun is though. That information is not for them.

So now there are two complete strangers out there who know I carry. Hopefully this won't come back to bite me in the rear.

I told clerky I did not appreciate being outed, though I'm not going to hold a grudge.

I'm glad that you told the clerk that his act wasn't a cool one.

I don't think I'd worry too much about the folks working in the gun shop. Especially if they don't know for sure if you were packing or not.

    Still somewhat cheeky tho!!

I had a worse one Monday - had gone into town on bike and was chatting to a guy I know waiting in pharmacy queue - he turns and tweaks my shirt on right, not actually exposing but asking - ''carrying today are we'' - he could probably just see the SIG.

Geez, I coulda crowned him Thought he was reliable tho he did sorta do it in fun - but I was not laughing. I gave him some verbal tuition in the etiquette of carry, etc. Glad to say no one else watching.

    What a dufus.

You got women recognizing your "huge bulge"?

    Lucky you!

Most guys just stick a roll of quarters in their pants.

They were customers. Not gun shop employees.

I was on a cable car (guess where I live...) and had about 5 people grab me around the waist or at least kind of pat me down as they shuffled past to get on/off last weekend. Luckily, no one really seemed to notice that they put their hands squarely on the fairly substantial SIG 229 or double mag pouch down there.

Odd, but I simply don't think it was in anyone's frame of reference...

    P95;
He may have thought it was a cute act; BUT, who knows, every time you go back to that pharmacy, you'll wonder if the boys in the security office/camera room are watching you...

    It definitely WAS NOT cool.

My WIFE of all people protested to me in Wal-Mart (I had not gotten the chips and cheese yet but was headed that-a-way) that I was printing big time.
    "Where?" I asked.
"Middle of your back, looks like a truck under your shirt tail!"
I lifted up my shirt to show her. "You mean my BALL CAP??"
I'd stuck it into the center back of my waist band as I did not want to wear it ... but to make her happy I shoved it down on my head ...

    Chris said "cheeky."

I was once outed by my friend who runs a pawn shop. She told a customer right on front of us that I carry, and I later discussed with her that telling everybody I carry is not a good idea, and that even though it turned out he was a friend of hers, he was still a stranger to me.

I guess sometimes it's like the old saying, "If your a hammer, everything looks like a nail." If someone is looking for a gun, I guess every bulge is a gun to them.

Then again, if you carry something in a way that makes some one think your carrying a gun, they think you're carrying a gun. If they happen to be anti-gun, they could call the police and then your gun will likely be discovered, even though it wasn't what they saw. Why do anything that would cause some one to think you were carrying?

If you live in San Francisco you can't be outed. We already assume that you are out.
