I have been an NRA member for several years. I learned that members can request that mailings be limited to "business" items, like membership renewal notices. Submitting the request on the website did not work, but mailing it to the membership department had the desired effect. I now get virtually no mail from the NRA, saving the organization much postage.

That is good to know, but I have been a member forever and did not know that until today. Regardless, they send out 10-100,000, maybe a million ads per year? I have no idea the number but it is very high and takes a substantial amount of money, not only in postage and gifts, but an entire marketing department that is probably close in scope to what a major department store chain would have.
A word to the wise isn't necessary, save it for the stupid

And all the printing and paper costs too. I hear ya.

I submitted my request via email, and haven't received much of anything in the mail that wasn't insurance related or related to my Life Member upgrade in a year and a half since I submitted the email.
