NC license information has all been done, NCIC and mental reports all back, license being printed Thursday of this week, can pick it up Friday.
Florida as of today told me due to backlog, it could be another 90 days before all paperwork returned and completed.
WOW.....overburdened or understaffed or both.

Perhaps FL puts a lower priority on non-resident permit applications?

I got my non-res FL about 8 months ago and they turned it around in under 10 working days from the time I mailed the package until they shipped my card.
Must be the current climate, and they are backlogged.
Of course, I had a very well suited DD-214 (concerning firearms and domestic and Soviet/ChiCom weapons instructing) as well as some new NRA basic skills certificates as insurance. That might of helped a bit.

Why do you want a Florida permit when you have one from North Carolina?

Spend a lot of time there, more comfortable if stopped showing Fla license over NC....Some LEO's have no clue about CC carry reciprocity laws and I don't need the hassle from uninformed LEO's when in another state.

Mike1956...plus the fact Fla license good for 7 yrs...NC 5 yrs plus
Florida accepted my military firearms experience in lieu of CC Training Class (yes I took the class for my NC license). Plus
In NC your ccl is tagged to your drivers license..not so for the Florida license. plus
renewal cost are less than NC....but will probably keep both as NC is getting ready to mandate that a NC resident has to have a NC CC license.

Interesting, seeing as just a year ago the law was changed to accept any permit. I could see this 'loop hole' being unintentional, as it wouldn't be the only one. For example the 45 days from paperwork and records receipt that has been abused to cause outrageous delays when the intentions were clear.

noway2.....may have overstated that...I do know their are some in the NC Senate that are discussing the mandate. I think it has more to do with money and control than anything else....The fact that they currently let you have a ccl from any state means they don't have control over NC residents who go out of state for licensing...could have been overlooked at the time they passed it.

There is no FL "non-" resident CWFL, only a FL CWFL. I got mine in 2009 after the previous presidential election and it took the full stated 90 days, but with few exceptions it's been less since. If you call and ask, they will give you the standard "90 days" answer no matter what. The number of emplyees was boosted in 2009 to handle the increased workload for that dept.
In all honesty, unless you intend to travel somewhere where your NC permit is not honored but FL's is, You pretty much wasted your money and time on the FL license. The FL LEOs aren't going to arrest anyone with an out of state permit without first checking its reciprocy. If you break renewal fees down to a yearly cost, the differences in any state amounts to chump change.

This makes little sense (what does in the legislature?) because they're also considering making us a "constitutional carry" state were no permit will be required. The only time you would want to get a permit is for out of state travel.

You aren't required to inform if stopped in Florida.

I would think the NC Sheriff's association and it's lobby will have quite a bit to say about that one....They may well be the force behind this mandate talk. When it comes to any government entity (state or federal) he with the most money gets the worm...

The bolded part of your post is the answer. It's actually a good problem to have, since it means that there are a large number of people getting their carry license. Of course the simple solution would be to hire more people to aid in processing, which would have the added benefit of adding a job or two but I doubt that will happen. The gubmint likes to spend money, but not when it comes to anything having to do with the legitimate use of guns, unless it is to "control"" it.
