The Gander Mtn, Bass Pro Shops, and Cabela's near me all have a nice selection, most of the time but, their prices I've seen on firearms and accessories, always seem to be more expensive for things I'm shopping for, then at most other places.

And I've asked about matching prices and they say: "Show me the local ad."

They will not call to check on a price-match and how many LGS run ads? moot point....

C's has a better ammo selection then GM, and they have a better selection then BPS. And all three's prices are kind ah palatable. Yes their pricing could be better but they are not as expensive as some LGS. WW is the best place to get ammo but they do have a very limited selection.

My lgs also has smaller inventory, but are more than happy to order anything I want. They don't charge anything extra as long as it is from one of their normal suppliers. I much prefer to give my business to a local store, but it is awsome walking into giant buildings full of stuff you want... maybe that's why my wife spent so much last week.

Gander Mountain and "Good Deal" never go in the same sentence.

Days after getting my new Glock I was in GM with my wife and while she was looking at cloths I decieded I would look at some of the guns. I couldn't help myself and actually laughed loudly to myself when I saw the same Glock 19 that was used for almost $100 more than I paid at my LGS. I went back to where my wife was half way across the store and she asked what I was laughing at. Didn't realize I was that loud about it but it was comical.

I don't figure GM would do a price match on a gun the LGS does not have in stock.
Agreed. I always try to give my business to a local independent store rather than a big chain. The key in my opinion is to find a LGS you like and keep going back to that store. Go to it often enough that they know who you are. Develop a relationship with them. Before you know it they will be offering you special deals because they know you'll keep coming back. Everybody comes out a winner.

Well, while GM isn't perfect, they didn't pull all of their "mean looking guns" off the floor or website like Bass Pro,
Dicks, and Wal Mart did today. In fact we were instructed to put every AR 15 on the floor we could find. But we were too busy to do it. We did sell out of all M4's today, it was crazy and non-stop.

I looked at my most recent gun I have purchased first at Gander Mountain as my Local gun shop was sold out. It is a nice place to go and see firearms before ordering one but I prefer giving my money to my local hometown gun shop even if their inventory isnt quite as large. My lgs has great employees and owners with a ton of knowledge they love to share :) so waiting to have them order the exact gun I want is fine by me knowing that the money is staying in my area.
