Brand is not a requisite. The only requisites are that I can shoot with it... and that it will probably not let me down...
Home defense: Different animal all together.
It could be worse!
A real man loves his wife, and places his family as the most important thing in life. Nothing has brought me more peace and content in life than simply being a good husband and father.

Only one? It would have to be my XD sub-compact with 17 rounds in the extended mag.

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
Personally I'll take a knife over a firearm if I can only have one weapon. I'm applying the "you're on a deserted island" caveat to your question. Thus, once I run out of ammo that gun is useless but the knife will be with me a long long time.
Yeh, but before I run out of ammunition I can point it at you and say "give me your knife" :D
Smile. It makes people wonder what you are up to

Only one weapon. My M&P9c. Compact easy to carry and 12 round mags and the full size 17 rounders will fit also. Or maybe my 10/22 or ar-15 or. Wait a minute can I have one gun that shoots multiple calibers. That would be the one. SLAP SLAP!!!! back to reality. I was just dreamin.
A pocket sized thermal baric bomb with a small chute on it. A minature Daisy Cutter with about the brisance of a 1000 pound warhead.
I could toss it up in the air, let it float gently down while allowing me time to boogie. When it went off, there would be no definable evidence of why.
