For everyones reference, the condition system was originally developed for the 1911. Here is a list of them:

Condition 0 - A round is in the chamber, hammer is cocked, and the safety is off.

Condition 1 - Also known as \"cocked and locked,\" means a round is in the chamber, the hammer is cocked, and the manual thumb safety on the side of the frame is applied.

Condition 2 - A round is in the chamber and the hammer is down.

Condition 3 - The chamber is empty and hammer is down with a charged magazine in the gun.

Condition 4 - The chamber is empty, hammer is down and no magazine is in the gun.

    taken from: http://www.sightm1911.com/Care/1911_conditions.htm

That being said, I\'m not quite sure if I carry in Condition 1 or Condition 2 as it would apply to a XD-40. I do carry with one in the chamber, and a topped off mag though.

What condition is my pistol? Well, the main one I carry is a little rough around the edges, but functions perfectly. The one I just got is new, so it’s in perfect condition. The one…

    P7M8??

Not sure what you would call a P7M8, nor what you would call a revolver.

Third gun then is a Commander, C&L.:kay:

cwsbh, is that your compact Witness wonderfinish in your avatar? Mrs. Armoredman had one in 40, loved it.:)
I carry my CZ 75 PO1 in a \"semi\" condition 2, hammer decocked to half cock, like CZ designed it. Always had my old Witness 40 fully decocked.
