Concealed Carry while riding an ATV in Colo
Hunting season is upon us and I have been asked if there is a is a law or statute prohibiting concealed carry (assuming one has a CCW permit recognized by the State of Colorado) on an ATV in the State of Colorado?
Colorado Revised Statutes address the prohibition of carrying on a snowmobile (CRS 33-14-117) but there is no mention of carrying on an ATV.

i would assume that the same applies for and atv as a snowmobile. but you know what they say when you assume, "it makes and ass out of u and me"

Welcome from Washinton.
Do they allow open carry of pistol while hunting. They do here in Washington. Would that be an option.

In Colorado one may CCW without a permit while hunting (and while driving).
With a permit I don't think it matters if you're riding an ATV or not.
3) (a) a person who may lawfully possess a handgun may carry a handgun under the following circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed:
(I) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-defense; or
(II) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is legally engaged in hunting activities within the state.
The snowmobile law is to prevent hunters from using snowmobiles to chase down game while hunting, its not about self defense weapons.

Ok now this is what D.O.W. says. Its aginst the law to
1.have a loaded(in the chamber) rifle or shotgun in or on a motor vehical including a motorcycle.
2.Carry firearms(except handguns)on a OHV during deer, elk, pronghorn and bear seasons unless they are unloaded in the chamber and magazine. Firearms (except handguns) and bows carried on an OHV must be fullyenclosed in a hardcase or softcase.
4.operate or ride a snowmobile with a firearm unless its compleatly cased and unloaded
5. shoot from a motor vehical
15. shoot from ,across or on a public road with a firearm- must be 50 feet from center line of the road
I hope that answers your question.
