I've heard AK47, hunting rifle, and AR15. Heard he fired 60 plus shots, heard the gun jammed and that he shot himself. Also heard the gun was stolen. I wasn't there and didn't see it happen in slow-motion so I may never know the truth.

Haven't heard that there was an AK there nor a hunting rifle. The Clackamas County Sherrif's Office has a page with all their info and it only states he was armed with a stolen AR-15 with several mags. Page is located here: UPDATED w/ SUSPECT, VICTIM NAMES: Sheriff's Office responds to active shooter at Clackamas Town Center and isn't a news outlet so the hyperbole is largely left out as the SO tends to deal in facts and not adding creative elements.

I have to give the sheriff credit on how he is talking to the media. I saw part of a press conference and he was very careful to not say 'assult weapon'. He was very specific in saying semi auto AR15 and that it was stolen. Seems the news media put the assult rifle words in his mouth

Yep. In fact, in the original news reports I saw as police had just gotten there (it was on the scanner so the media knew immediately it was happening), the news outlet quoted one witness who claimed it was an AUTOMATIC "assault rifle." The blind leading the blind.

Personally I have never understood the "never tell" mentality. If more DECENT UPSTANDING citizens were known to be carriers perhaps we would not all be lumped into the "crazy gun nut" category. Better ambassadors as it were are needed.

Be that as it may, I give kudos to the host.

If they ban Ar's then whats next? Someone goes on a rampage with a shotgun, handgun, ect... Take them away and they will use knife or sword, bow and arrow it never ends.. Therefore we the people need to be armed

Shouldn't be, as this is the gunshine state after all. We radio have several radio personalities who talk about CC here in Orlando too.

Preaching to the choir here, Big Dude, but we are not always free.

I am bound by law from possessing firearms or ammo on my employer's property. Not a problem. I've been a practitioner of the flashlight and other common weaponistic objects for much longer than I've been carrying. There is never a reason to be truly unarmed unless you are naked, and even then there is always a weapon within reach - but now is not the time for silly business.

"You know, if you have your concealed weapons license like I do, you almost need to carry a weapon with you all of the time because you just never know when or where some lunatic is going to do something like this..."

I said outloud to myself as I was driving my truck, "Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!!"

Now I don't know if he was using this as an opportunity to make a point in a half-hearted dimwitted manner or if he was being straight up. Either way, it's amazing to me how this point doesn't seem to naturally occur to people. You don't wait to put your seatbelt on right before you crash, because you don't know when or where that may be, and once you do its too late. Same with carrying.
I was listening to Bubba that morning too.
