Florida received my application on Oct 30th...I am 66 years old, no criminal record, not even a traffic or parking violation (pretty good huh).....So I call and speak with a Department of Agriculture person about the status of my license and they told me due to high volume of apps and not enough employees to process I should expect a 90 to 120 day wait time.
So...don't waste any money going to Florida....choose another state..........

Mississippi is pretty fast, but I believe there is a residency requirement. No class requirements though. Good luck.

My UT was received 8 weeks to the day. FL was 14 weeks before it was even sent out.
Meh..., as much as I hate the extended waiting, I'm glad the demand is so high.

A long wait time for any state is bad .......... but I think you have to look hard at the state's reciprocity agreements with other states, especially if you are like me and travel a lot....... Just sayin'

As a Florida resident I find this to be quite funny.
The wait-times are so long BECAUSE of Florida's reciprocity with other states
AND the sheer number of non-resident applications.
So, if you feel the need to, by all means
.don't waste any money going to Florida....choose another state..........

Has anyone consider the number of applications being submitted? Florida has issued or renewed over 80,000 CWFL's since Aug 1st 2012 or about 16,000 per month. Pretty hard to justify added government workers based on the present economy. Presently 1 in 14 adults in Florida has a CWFl and growing by about 10,000 per month. Mississippi has a population of about 2.8 million, Florida has a poulation of over 19 million, my county alone has a population of 1.8 million. I believe the state is doing an outstanding job based on the work load.

I am in week 6 on my FLA application. The "official" timeline is 6-12 weeks. Lets see what happens.
UT was 7 weeks to the day.

Yeah, but if you are out of State (from FL) and want to carry there, the wait is worth it.

One more point I would like to make, My Hat is off to FL for leading the way on this since 1987. We all, in other places that allow us, kind of owe a hat tip to FL for somewhat leading the way, especially in the east.

No comparison. Utah has a population of 2.8 million and has issued a a total of 360,000 weapons permits. Florida has issued 118,000 non resident licenses alone plus over 1 million resident licenses and growing by about 10K per month. How long does it take to get a license in Ct.?

I am currently waiting for my Fl cwp. They cashed my check august 4th and a fl dep of Ag rep gave me the same info. I thought it was due to an old arrest without conviction but apparently not. Thanks for the info
