I sent my fee to the NRA the morning after Obama won. We need to stand our ground and remember that those of us who took the oath upon entering the military service swore to protect the constitution of the U.S. against all enemies foreign and domestic. We also swore to serve the president, however, if the president has engaged in activities to destroy the constitution then we each need to examine ourselves and our souls and determine which is the more honorable to serve and protect. We need to persistently remind people that any ban or action is in violation of the 2nd amendment. Period. We also need the ability to argue face-to-face that the framers of the constitution had thousands of years of tyranny to base the constitution on. It wasn't an emotional knee jerk reaction. The liberal socialist in our country been waiting for the right event and now they have it. They will play on the emotions and fears of people who do not understand that while one deranged individual killed his sleeping mother and defenseless children, millions of law abiding citizens with all of these so called assault weapons did nothing of the sort.
God said, "Fear Not..." over 350 times in the Bible, so, fear not those who can take your freedoms away. Rather, fear the day that no one will fight to save them.

Nothing will happen, gun owners and even people who don't own guns but 'get it' are tired of this idiotic blame the guns game. It's not the source of the issue... it's a tired excuse.
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.

Any discussion about this latest shooting and others like it has got to include what to do about the mentally ill and their access to weapons. Anything less will be a waste of time and just lead to more killings like this one.

Unfortunately I cannot support the NRA. They supported Mitt Romney and he is a gun hating anti-freedom politician. I can't do GOA because they were allegedly using pro-life versus pro-choice as a litmus in who to support if both politicians in a race where pro-2nd Amendment. I do like SAF though.

All the bans and restrictions won't solve a thing. Those only apply to law abiding people. The criminals and crazies won't pay them any heed.
Most of us here know that.
Its not about peace or safety or security or being secure or any other buzzword that politicians use.
Its about CONTROL. Always has been and always will be.
The rhetoric that precedes it is nothing more than double speak to appease the weak minded. The worse part of it is that it works.

My local rag is adding Hollow point bullets to the ban. Why would any logical person want to ban hollow point bullets? I swear we are going up against a tidal wave of ignorance.

Brother, I hate to say it, but I think you are terribly mistaken. The tides have changed in this country and this terrible event is exactly what they needed to press their agenda. I don't see anything standing up to them. Not now, anyway...

As I said before, "they" will not let this crisis (tragedy) go to waste. I just bought 20 and 30 rd mags while they are in stock. While I am devastated by this and the Oregon shooting, they will not include the mental health or security aspects in looking at this horrible awfulness.

I have sent my letters and so have a few friends of mine and I will keep writing untill I can have my say face to face. We here on this forum have power all we have to do is unite as the anti's are doing, pick up the pen, use your key board and work on representing your views in a civil manner and get it sent off. Mine were posted today and will be on there way on Mon. We will keep up our comments here but if we just keep them here we are giving up and I had 2 heart attacks both times I passed over but I did not quit and I will not quit now. I have been shot at, stab several times, beat with a bumper jack and they thought I might not walk again and I beat cancer this is not a fight I am walking away from and if I get labeled as what ever I have heard it all before. God Bless America and I will sell my coat for a sword

"I'm going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House: a bill to ban assault weapons," she said. "It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation, and the possession—not retroactively, but prospectively" of assault weapons, she said. While Feinstein made clear that the bill exempts "over 900 specific weapons," her proposed bill will also ban the sale, transfer, importation and possession of clips of more than 10 bullets. "The purpose of this bill," she said, "is to get … weapons of war off the streets of our cities."
Can someone tell me what she means by NOT RETROACTIVELY, BUT PROSPECTIVELY?? Im so fatigued from all the news and politicizing this.. Anyway I'd appreciate your answer, I think I have the Idea but would like conformation...

I told myself that if he got re-elected I was going to buy another AR - he did and I did. After hearing his speech, I just bought more hy-cap mags for it.

Some recent quotes:
We are going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this regardless of the politics. -Barack Obama-
We can't tolerate this anymore. These tragedies must end and to end them we must change...In the coming weeks I'll use whatever power this office holds to engage my fellow citizens, from law enforcement, to mental health professionals, to parents and educators in an effort aimed at preventing more tragedies like this, because what choice do we have? -Barack Obama-
